Unformatted Hard drive on Xbox360

My system is calling for an update. After starting the update process, a message pops up "not enough storage space". My hard drive shows "unformatted" on the storage devices screen. I have followed the formatting instructions with no results. After I
click "yes" to format it, the screen says Formatting in progress for about 2 seconds and kicks me back the "Storage Devices" screen. Is the Hard drive gone? What do I do?

I recently submitted a service request about the hard drive in my Xbox 360 Slim which unformatted itself. The Xbox360 itself is under warrenty and is scheduled for service. My question is, the packing instruction say to remove the hard drive, but that
may be to problem, should I send it anyway or keep the hard drive?

Format Hard Drive

I'm having issues formatting my hard drive for the xbox 360S. Hard drive keeps showing up "unformatted" so I format the hard drive and nothing happens, Xbox keeps saying that it is unformatted. Any solutions to this problem??

 

Sorry to hear it. Is it an official Xbox 360 hard drive? Where did you purchase it? It does indeed seem as though it's died on you. If this is the case you will need to purchase a new one. You could also get an official Xbox transfer kit to try and
transfer any content from the old drive to the new one.

 

If his drive shows up as unformatted, there's no point in buying a transfer cable. Your drive is gone, as well as all the data on it. Buy a new drive.
