Unexpected charges on Xbox game pass

I bought the xbox game pass about a year ago when it was a dollar for a month trial. I put the payment on a gift card i had gotten and finished my month trial. After this i still had some money left on the account from the card which was enough for another
month so i bought it. After this however i noticed that it didn’t go away after a month like i intended, i didn’t think anything of it. I now no longer have the game pass

as its ended my subscription; however, when i went to go renew it with my debit card it now says i’m a year behind on payments. This means that through that time i was being charged monthly without having enough money on my xbox or any other way to pay for
it. I never said i wanted a year subscription or more than another month for that matter yet it kept charging me. Now i cannot pay for another month of the gamepass without paying the year long subscription that i didn’t ask for.

The only odd part i find about this is that i didn’t have enough money on my account to even afford another month yet it kept charging me anyways. I know there’s not much I can do about it now but it really does seem strange how the payments kept happening
after i didn’t have any money left. Also not sure why it just stopped suddenly; guessing theres a year limit on how far it can go without being paid?

It did though and thats the thing. I had about 10$ left on my account after i had bought the ultimate gamepass for the month. I bought it using a gift card I had received for my birthday. I had no other card or paypal linked to my account which means i
had no way to pay for the gamepass after the month yet now i find out that it has been charging just onto nothing apparently. I hope i’m making sense here, i’m just confused is all.

No it wouldnt keep charging you however you will remain suspended until you pay it off typically people pay their subscription to lift thensuspension during the 21 days

When you purchase Gold or Game Pass through Xbox, it warns you that it will start a recurring subscription and that it is up to you to turn off auto-renewal if you do not want to continue the suspension. By completing the transaction, you agree to start
the subscription.
