Undownloaded content being removed by Xbox One?

No, I have no idea how to make that topic title look any more understandable.

My bf purchased Dying Light (approx Feb 2nd 2015) and shortly after (maybe a few days) purchased the season pass for it. He had access to the costumes and such, played extensively for a few weeks, so on and so fourth. Very typical gameplay and usage.

Today Dying Light released their new expansion, part of the season pass, The Following. He went to the game page and tried to download it and he was prompted to buy it. However, he had purchased the season pass and there was no reason for that to have
happened. He ended up calling Microsoft who originally bounced him between employees who didn't even know what a season pass was. He eventually landed on a woman who told him that because he didn't download it when he purchased it, it was removed. Of course,
he couldn't have downloaded it when it was purchased because you can't download an expansion a year early. Clearly she didn't know what a season pass was or how digital purchases even work. Then they changed their story again and said that WB must have revoked
his license for it and only they could fix it. Then they changed their story and said they could find no evidence of a 29.99 purchase anywhere near Feb 2015 so that means he never purchased it and basically said he was lying about still having costumes and
other season pass digital goods for Dying Light.

The woman would not listen to logic or reason and did not understand the fact that the season pass wasn't even 29.99 in Feb 2015 and she wasn't even looking for the right thing. She ended up hanging up abruptly when asked to restate her statements for the
record so we could talk to someone else with the story she gave us, like WB or a supervisor.

I understand that the season pass had a price change on approx Dec 8th, raising the price by $10 in anticipation of the full fledged expansion, but that it wouldn't have an effect on previous season pass holders.

Has anyone else come across this sort of issue? If so, how did you resolve it?

First what you need to do is file a complaint against the person and then block communications. Instructions on how to do both can be found behind this link

Lastly I hate to tell you that 'naming and shaming' is against the forum rules

Update: Friends on his list are also unable to download the expansion without paying again even when they had the season pass.

 

Typically when you have a season pass you need to download the dlc via an in game menu,not from the store, so i'd check there.

 

Hey there, KnirpsLyn! What an odd situation you are running into! If possible, I'd like your boyfriend to post here on his account so that we can look into it further.

Without him around, I can say that if the Season Pass is asking you to purchase again, then the system does not recognize it as being purchased. Is he able to see the purchase on
commerce.microsoft.com? If he is, please send me a screenshot of the purchase. You will need to upload this screenshot to a file sharing site of your choice (and please, black out anything that might be personal information)
and the send me a link to that image. If you would prefer to have this privately done, you can send me a private message with the image by clicking the envelope at the bottom of my post.

However, if you cannot find the purchase there, then it never went through, and you would need to purchase it again. If you guys see a charge for it from your bank, I suggest contesting that with the bank so that he can get his money back for the purchase.
If the purchase isn't in the system for us, we cannot offer a refund.

Hopefully this helps clear a few things up and gets you pointed in the right direction. Please post back with your results after!

 

I'd be happy to show you the proof of purchase except...after one of the employees found it on the account, the second woman said 'no he didn't, he doesn't know what he saw, he didn't find anything' and now there's nothing there. The transaction history
from the bank is unavailable.

I'd be all for the 'he didn't actually purchase it' story if not for the fact that he has 'bundle only' season pass exclusive content in his game.

Clearly the situation is beyond you guy's comprehension. Also, no, there is no link in the game screen for the DLC, it leads directly to the store/collection which leads to the store. Whatever happened, it's probably linked to the season pass price hike
that they decided to do on the 8th which retroactively affected our, and other's, 'unused' season pass downloads. Others have found a way to 'refresh' the purchase by re-downloading the game/what little DLC they have but he's unwilling to try that because
he doesn't want to lose his costumes.

At least 19.99 is better than the 350 ya'll swindled out of me! Hah. Bye bye then.

 

They can't just erase something from your purchase history.Once it's there it's there for good

Also,i don't see how the transaction from your bank account would be unavailable.

It would show up on your bank statement or on your account history if you use online banking.

As Misses Quinzel said,it would be better if your boyfriend posted here.

If you guys would like to continue troubleshooting, please have your boyfriend post back so that we can dig into what happened with the purchase. I'd like to find out what happened, however I'm unable to do that with some sort of proof of purchase. Please
let us know when you're ready to continue working with us to figure out what is going on.
