Unblocking a person does not work

I blocked a buddy of mine a few months back for a period as we were not talking. I decided to unblock him and we are trying to reconnect on xbox. For some reason it will not let me unblock him. I hit the button on his profile to unblock and it keeps blocking
him when I go back to the profile. Like a glitch that won't undo itself.

I contacted Xbox Support via phone and was told to contact Xbox Forums and here is my message.

Thank you and I hope someone has a resolution to this problem.

Glitch! Have one friend that keeps defaulting to mute

I have one friend that I can’t unmute. Tried blocking/unblocking and that doesn’t work and the mute/unmute is not working so I can’t unmute in chat or in game chat. Please help!

When I Unblock someone. It reblocks them by itself minutes later

When I unblock someone on my friends list. For some reason it blocks them on xbox live again around 10 - 15 minutes later. Any answers?

Side notes: It does this action on console but not on microsoft websites. So Everything is fine on xbox.com. Signing in and out after unblocking does not fix this supposed bug.

One thing you'd want to check is if that player has also blocked your account. The steps

found here to block a player would be the same to unblock a player, and if you've verified that he has not blocked your account, I would recommend going through the steps to unblock the player and wait a half hour or so to let the settings move through
the system. It might also be good to try and perform that action on another platform, either the Xbox App on Windows 10, iOS, or Android, or directly on Xbox.com and see if that has the same results.

Let us know if the issue persists and we can try some other troubleshooting steps.

Don't worry, this is a common problem!

Here's how to unblock someone on Xbox One:

Unblocking on Xbox One:

Press the Xbox button on your controller.
Navigate to the "People" tab (far right).
Go to your "Profile" section.
Select "Social".
Choose "Following" (or "Friends" depending on how you were connected).
Change the filter from "Following" (or "Friends") to "Blocked."
Find your cousin's Gamertag on the list.
Select their Gamertag and choose "Unblock."

If you can't find them on the Blocked list:

You can also try unblocking directly from your cousin's profile:

Search for your cousin's Gamertag using the "Find someone" option.
On their profile, select "Report or Block" (three dots menu).
Choose "Unblock" if the option is available.
Once unblocked, your son should be able to see your cousin's Gamertag again and send them a friend request.

It does work. I did that more then ones by accident. They text you, you block the person, the person can´t text you. you shoot a short message out to that one and he or she can write you in the next second.

You can also wait and let it be blocked for some days or weeks.

Then send a message, it will unblock automatically in the moment your message reach that person.

tried that. I unblocked them and it does, but after a few seconds it blocks them again
