Unauthorized Gamer Tag name change

Someone changed this GamerTag to one of a sexual reference. Both my sons that use this account are special needs and would not understand how to make the change or be able to come up with a name such as this. I want the $9.99 charge refunded and the GamerTag
changed back to its previous name TaborBoys. I chatted with a microsoft tech online and was told to reference a ticket that she created:
[Mod Removed]

I would also like to have the account locked for purchases without a secondary authorization process which I thought was already in place based on a previous ticket

Gamer Tag Name Change

This does not seem like a new problem, until it happens to you. On may 31st, 2014 my GT was change at some point during the day. There was no purchase to change the name, only my crafty 3 year old purchasing a motorcycle game app @ 0630 am while everyone
was sleeping and he snuck onto the console. No emails indicating my previous GT was in violation, especially interesting since it was originally assigned to me in 2012 by Xbox Live in the first place. I just want my old name back, I liked it, I miss it,
and I want to know how this happened? I spent a great amount of time w/ Xbox chat and according to them, my original name does not even exist anymore. she suggested I contact the forum for help. Any Ideas???

Gamer Tag Name Change

For an official answer for why it was changed, you would need to post here -

If it was changed because it violated the code of conduct then it is not possible to get it back.

Now I`d normally say You would not be able to choose your new tag without paying but because your Account was compromised you might want to see what your options are for this one, They might give you a randomly generated tag. I'm not entirely sure.



Note - You have to Ask them to do an Unauthorized access investigation on your account.

 

I mentioned nothing of comprise. Someone, meaning possibly a friend or someone house sitting may have changed the GamerTag. I have no way of finding out who did it since it more than likely was done from the xbox. I had called on a ticket before this when
one of my son's purchased a game. I got a refund on the game and asked that they account NOT have purchasing privileges. I was told at that time that it had been suspended and no further purchases could be made since MS has no alternate authentication mechanism
aside from logging into that account; no parental controls.

So, since this account had credits on the account from gift cards submitted someone was able to make the change without any additional authentication on an account I was told no longer had purchasing rights. I want the $9.99 refunded and the GamerTag changed
back to its previous one (TaborBoys) and purchasing privileges suspended for the account or some way to parental control it.

 

Also, I was told to post on this forum as Microsoft employee would respond to me or be able to help. If this forum is just user supported than this is not the place for my problem as only someone at microsoft can fix this.

 

This forum is largely user based. You would have to continue working with phone support to try to get a refund.

Support sends people here on the belief that the enforcement team will issue a forced name change and you will be given a free change, but that is not the case. The enforcement team does issue forced name changes, but you cannot contact them directly to
get one and forced changes are now given a randomly generated tag.
