Unablle to change Gamertag to a different Microsoft Account

Please can someone help me. I have been trying to change my email address and gamertag to a new microsoft account (which does not have a gamertag linked to it). I follow the instructions and each time I keep getting "your account cannot be updated at this
time".

I am getting frustrated with it as I have been leaving it 30 days and trying again and the error message is not very helpful at all!

Has anyone else had this problem or am I doing something horribly wrong?

Try changing the password , and then changing the Microsoft account once more. If this does not work either , what you can do is call up MS Support , in America and Canada , that number is 1-800-469 -9269 . With the correct sign in information , the representative
you get can change your email , Password , or billing information. They have changed my email before in a similar situation , it only takes a moment , so if it is not 10PM yet , give them a call.
