Unable to use prepaid card credits on xbox.com

I have money siting in my xbox account through prepaid cards that I would like to use to buy stuff on xbox.com. However, when I go to purchase things, I only see my credit card listed as a payment option. I would think that I would have the option to use
whatever payment method I wished, like the way it is on the console. Do I need to remove my credit card from my account in order to use the prepaid money or am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

I use a prepaid card to pay for my subscription but got an error code when trying to update my subscription. I contacted Tech support and apparently they do not accept prepaid Visa's etc. Microsoft I guess relies on the auto-renew featured a bank in for folks that forget to cancel or change subscription. Atleast my opinion. Apparently they need a bank card or credit card. I personaly don't trust banks or credit card companies for that matter. I thought about purchasing a subscription gift card. Yet a am afraid they will ask me for a credit card for auto-renew. If anyone has had this issue or have a work around let me know.Click to expand...

Use your pre paid card to get a gold sub online somewhere like cdkeys.com or gamedealdaily.com you will get it for a fraction of the cost of paying MS and you can turn off auto renew in the account settings of Xbox.com

Not sure how in 2016, you don't use debit or credit cards but that's just me.

Anyway, could someone else confirm if using prepaid VISAs work or not? You could always go to gamestop or bestbuy, use your prepaid VISA card on a subscription xbox live card. That should work. Perhaps order a digital code on amazon with your prepaid VISA. I'm pretty sure they accept it.Click to expand...

Doesn't trust banks or credit card companies. Tries to use their pre-paid cards.

I fear for this person's future when they try to buy a house with no credit. Maybe they are rich and will just buy it out right with their mattress money.

As for a solution to your problem, use your prepaid card from a company you don't trust to buy a 12-month or 3-month Xbox Live Gold card from the store.

Usually there is an option to change payment in the right side of the box when you click buy now for xbox. The confirmation box will appear and you will see your credit card as a payment option and to the right of that there is the word "change" highlighted
in green, click that and it should pull up your payment options, I.e. credits. Oh and u can use Microsoft credits on xbox.com.

Was it

A) by use of a prepaid 25-character, 5-by-5 prepaid code, or

B) did you subscribe for monthly, quarterly or annual renewing subscription by credit/debit card or Paypal?
