Unable to use money from gift card

I can't seem to use the money on my account from a gift a gift card as when I go to the Store to try and buy a game/addon it doesn't let me use the account money and it only gives me the option to add a credit card. Can you please help me? I saw other threads
from 1-2 years ago having the same problem.

You would have to redeem them for an Xbox gift card and then you can use the money from your gift card to purchase digital content.

Keep in mind, in order to use currency from gift cards for 360 content, you do have to make the purchase from a 360 console.

Sorry to hear it. If you are unable to use the currency to purchase the item on the website (there should be an option to choose the payment method if available by highlighting it and then pressing A) then you'll need to purchase using the Store on the
console where you can choose your payment method.

 

Both on the console and the website I am unable to purchase using the account money.

1. Which country do you live in?

2. Which country is your gamertag set for?

3. Where did you get the gift card from?

4. Can you log in to commerce.microsoft.com and see if the currency is listed there?

2) I think it is set to United Kingdom, but I'm not sure as I can't find how to view the gamertag's region. commerce.microsoft.com does say at the top left GR - Personal account however.

That would be the issue then. Because the currency is for Greece you cannot use it for UK purchases. Please migrate your gamertag to the same region you live in (Greece) to avoid purchasing and downloading issues.
