Unable to update xbox 360

Hi all, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. I have been attempting for almost a week now to update my xbox to the latest update that came out last week.

started my xbox 360E 250GB last week and up came pop up to inform me I need to do an update, so as always did yes, got to about 75% of download and failed with

Can't process the update.

Status error: 42FE-43C5-1380-07700-C000-000E

so googled and followed steps as advised here on these forums.

1. Cleared cache

2. Deleted update with the left bumper, right bumper X sequence.

3. Removed and replaced internal HDD.

4. Downloaded and unzipped update to USB. When trying to install from USB it says "extracting" for about 2 seconds and then fails with above error.

5. Switched between wifi and wired.

i have spoken to live chat, went through troubleshooting steps again and then they informed me I need to send the box in for repair. Same from support on twitter.

im really hoping someone has a solution for me. I really don't want to have to send box away. The only thing wrong with the box before the update was that there was something wrong with the DVD drive, my toddler had stuck something in there and I had to
open box to remove it. ( this probably voided my warranty as well)

After trying all the troubleshooting tips again I think I've found the problem. When I download the USB or CD install files I cannot move or copy the files, they are corrupt. Is there a different download site? Can anyone tell me which games would have
the latest update on them? Thanks!

 

Sorry to hear it. Unfortunately if you've tried all the steps listed then there's nothing that can be done for you. As you've already opened the console the repair service won't even touch it even if you paid to send it in.

Your best bet here will be to purchase a new console.

 

Bit of a bummer that xbox release an update that has broken so many consoles. Nice money making opportunity.

If I wanted to backup my saved games, do I pop in a USB stick, prepare it for storage and then copy game data over?

 

EdibleStone3738 I basically experienced everything you did once this "Update" was rolled out. Unfortunately there appears to be no fix for us and I have just given up. I ended up returning my recently purchased XboxOne as I didn't open it and picked up a
PS4. Microsoft has lost my business for their gaming platforms and Live support.

Hi all, for about a week I have tried to update my Xbox 360 with no joy ,when I switch it on my dashboard doesn't come up but I can open it with the silver button on my controller but as soon as I click on system settings it goes straight back to the spinning
circle , I have noticed somebody else's profile on there too .

I see from some of the above comments that it may be game over for my 360 but this seems almost criminal that an Xbox live update has caused a lot of people's consoles to be scrapped ,it can't be right surely !

Any help would be much appreciated,cheers.
