Unable to unmute another account. Help!

So I just bought my husband his own xbox last night since I got tired of having a time share on the xbox. Today we tried playing WW2 with his friend, I can communicate with his friend, he can communicate with his friend but we cannot communicate with each
other. As it turns out my account has his muted but I cannot unmute him. In the party the 'unmute' button does not do anything, on the profile it will change but would revert back to 'unmute' when you leave the screen. We were able to get in games together
and play together I just cant unmute him.

We've tried to hard reset both account, clear cache, unfriend and refriend one another, block and unblock, xbox live services are live, our internet are good, we don't have a communication ban (otherwise we wouldn't be able to talk to any of our other friends),
and now we don't have a clue on what to do aside from make another account which we don't want to do since we both have progresses in the games we play.

Unable to “Unmute” on Xbox Live

I am unable to unmute someone on Xbox live. I have attempted to use the unmute feature both within the game and on various screens through Xbox live and still not working.

Every time I click “unmute”, it does not save the change because when I go back into the same friends screen, it once again has the unmute options available when I just unmuted him not two seconds before.

Any help would be appreciated!

 

Unmute my guest account mic!!

A guest account only has the entitlement to play online it doesn't have any communications entitlements so you are unable to unmute the mic as the service is unavailable

same problem as well i have seen 10 other posts dated from today with this same problem, your **** xbox sucks return this piece of **** whilee you can!

 

There is currently an
active service alert about party issues.

Once the alert is resolved, see if the issue clears up.

And the issue was resolved! I tried to contact support chat and we were trying a few things and today I had another problem that I didn't know nor understand how to fix and we ended up fixing that issue as well!!

 

SOLVED!: I got walked through fixing it by the xbox support team while trying to fix a different issue!

Unfriend your friend then do a soft factory reset.

Settings > System > Console Info > Reset Console > Reset and keep my games & apps

Then when the console is back on go through the set up and check if your friend is unmuted (which mine was)

Then go ahead and add them back. On mine it switched back to unmute which scared me, I got all the way back to the home screen and found my husbands profile again and its on 'mute" now!

We got into a party and everything was good!!
