Unable to talk in parties/online

If you've tried different headsets, controllers, and still can't get your microphone to work on your Xbox console, there are a few more steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Check Microphone Mute:
Ensure that the microphone isn't muted on either the headset or the controller. Many headsets have a physical mute button or switch. Also, check the mute settings on your Xbox dashboard.

2. Controller Update:
Make sure your controller is up to date. Connect it to your Xbox and go to "Settings" > "Devices & connections" > "Accessories." Select your controller and check for updates.

3. Privacy Settings:
Check your Xbox privacy settings to ensure that voice communication is allowed. Go to "Settings" > "Privacy & online safety" > "Xbox Live privacy." Make sure that "Communication & multiplayer" settings are set appropriately.

4. Party Chat Settings:
If you're trying to use voice chat in a party, ensure that the party chat settings are configured correctly. Join a party, press the Xbox button, go to "Party & chat," and check your audio settings.

5. Microphone Sensitivity:
If the microphone sensitivity is set too low, your voice might not be detected. Go to "Settings" > "Devices & connections" > "Accessories" > "Headset mic" and adjust the mic monitoring level.

6. Reboot Your Xbox:
Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve issues. Turn off your Xbox, unplug it from power for a few seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

7. Try Different USB Ports:
If you're using a USB headset, try different USB ports on your Xbox to see if the issue is port-related.

8. Test on Another Account:
Create or use another Xbox account to test if the issue is account-specific.

9. Wired vs. Wireless:
If your headset has both wired and wireless options, try both to see if the issue persists in one mode but not the other.

If they are unable to send messages, invite to parties or talk in a game.

That is more than likely a console enforcement action rather than one that targets a specific account. To be sure, you can head over to Enforcement, sign in, click
on the little orange gavel that will appear and it will take you to a complete Enforcement history of the account you are signed into. I'd recommend doing this for each of the accounts to get an idea of where each one stands.



Enforcement does not read the forums, nor do they have a direct way of being contacted via phone or email. That being said, sometimes, Enforcement will deem a suspension as being worthy of a review. If so, you will see a link called "Review" next to the
current enforcement action. This is your only way to contact Enforcement directly to plead your case and possibly have the Enforcement action overturned.

Sounds like a possible console privilege suspension. These can be used to prevent the use of an alternate account trying to bypass an enforcement action.

There appears to be an issue that has been happening lately. It appears that if an enforcement action was extended then there may be no additional notification and the enforcement site does not reflect this extension. The only way
to currently find out if an enforcement action was extended is to contact Xbox support.

I have experienced similiar bugs with Xbox Gamebar on PC, mostly in vocal party chats, and the problem fixed itself with time (or luck lol).

I'll make a try with fixing the multiplayer from your settings panel.

Go in

Settings > Games > Xbox Network Functionality (or similar, sorry; I have the OS in Italian)





Here you'll have a look on the status of your Xbox Network.

Make a check of Xbox Live Multiplayer Status (Button 1) then, if you get any error in the screen, click on Fix
(Button 2).

Follow the instructions and restart your PC, then try to join a vocal party again.
