Unable to System-Update -Read Post-

I received this Xbox One a few months ago.

Shortly after I started using it, I received the "IMPORTANT SYSTEM UPDATE MESSAGE - August 29, 2014".

Simply put, it states that my Xbox One has the disc read-error that plagued the Xbox One at launch. This is incorrect.

My Xbox One plays disc-games, movies, etc just fine. I have tried well over a dozen games / 20+ movies and no issues at all.

Obviously, I chose to not send it in for 4+ months and keep it as is. I noted the "You will be unable to receive System Updates until this Xbox One is fixed" in the message, but thought it must be in error; since my Xbox One worked fine.

Well, now I need an update to play Destiny. And it has told me, after using all help-conditions and re-installations, etc, that my Xbox One needs this update to use the console (I can play other games fine though).

How do I resolve this? I am not sending a perfectly good Xbox One out for half a year, so if that is the only response, expect PS4 to gain another player. But short of that, I am willing to try anything else.

I can install and play other games just fine, including Alien Isolation, but Destiny alone (a fav game of mine) is unable to install / update due to the same message:

"You need this update to use your console, but something went wrong." No error phrase (like Beaver, x003, etc. appears).

System unable to install system update

Modem Brand and Model Number: Motorola SBG6580

Router Brand and Model Number: See above.

Wired or Wireless connection: Wireless connection

Update Error Message: Can't download the update. To test internet connection.....

Update Error Code (6 sets of 4 digits/letters each): 40A3 - 0000 - 3080 - 0504 - 8007 - 0070

What you've tried: Clearing Cache, USB Flash Drive, Testing Xbox Live, Re-installing update, using wired connection

When attempting to update using a flash drive, it extracts for 2-3 seconds and give an error code: 40A3-0000-3000-0904-8007-0070

Try heading to Settings>Network and see if there's an update needed for the console that you can manually start the install for.

If that doesn't work then I'm afraid that you would need to send the console in for repairs as you wouldn't have gotten that message if there wasn't something wrong with the console.

I would also like to apologize if you don't like the "send it in for repair" answer but if there is no other choice and you cannot enjoy your favorite games because of update issues it would be to your best interest to send in the console before the warranty
runs out.

 

Just checked there, and it says "No update available"...is this an issue with Destiny then?

 

Would you please do check out what dashboard version your xbox is on?

Go to settings / system and then check for the console informatiion. The interesting part of the version number is the part in the brackets, especially this "xb_rel.14xx" stuff.

On the other hand I have cleraly to support the answer Onyx gave you, you better have your console serviced before it runs out of warranty. Even if it seems like it is running perfetly, there will be a reason you got that message.
