Unable to switch old , expired email address for a new one on my profile .

Last May 2013 , I successfully recovered an old profile . I had long forgotten the password & security question & the old email address had expired 5 yrs earlier after I moved to a new town . I got verification for the profile & a new password & security
question . Problem is , I can't get rid of the old email address . When I try to switch addresses to my new one on the console all I get is : xbox.com/error help or xbox.com/account swap . I,m told I need to verify the old email address but nothing I try
seems to work ( can't send or receive messages to an address that's expired ) ( Catch 22 ? ) . Attempted Live Chat but got cut off because the agent thought I was too slow for her ( geez ! ) . Any suggestions ?

Changing email addresses on a profile .

Darkest Sanity , sorry for the late reply . If you switch email addresses using your console & it says you've succeeded , then you need to do one more step for that change to show up in the upper right hand corner . That's described in my previous post
. This whole process is poorly described in Lives instructions & was very confusing for me , as you can see by reading all the threads above .

If your primary email address that you want to switch to is NOT associated with an Xbox profile ; then your swap should be pretty straight forward on your console , otherwise you'll have to disassociate it . That's something I don't have an answer to . Ironically
, after all the trouble I had doing the swap , Xbox has yet to send any emails to my new account , instead sending messages for my primary profile to an address associated with my 2nd profile . ( You'd think both profiles shouldn't be sharing an address .
)At this point I'm just happy to have swapped out the old expired email address for my new one , but I guess I should check to see why the new address isn't getting alerts .

I'm trying to switch my old email address that is associated with my Xbox profile to my new email address. I entered the new email address that I want to switch it to and it comes back saying "Sorry we can't change your Microsoft account. For more

Go to http://account.live.com and add a primary alias to your account. An alias is an alternate email address. Should fix the issue you are having, as Ive done this with the account Im posting on and
another account I have.

 

I've done that several times with different aliases , none worked . I think my problem is being unable to verify the expired email address , no messages can be sent or received there . Tried to go through the process to verify the email & it seemed like
it worked , told me I was verified , but then when I tried the swap , I was told I'm not verified . Checked my MS account for that email & sure enough , it said I needed to verify the account . Did it again , got verified , tried swap , no go . At a loss as
to where to go from here . When I recovered that old profile I verified the expired email address & the password & security question were reset . ( I even received 2 months free Gold for the trouble I went through ). I don't understand how if the verification
worked to recover the profile , it's not good enough to do the swap . Maybe I need to go the Tier resolution or whatever it's called ?

 

Sidekick go to the outlook.com website there should be a link that appears and says use a different Microsoft account as your primary alias that's what I have been told.
