unable to sign into xbox live profile on xbox 360

i am able to enter my xbox live pass code thing on the controller after selecting my profile. it then takes me to the add security page where i have to enter my microsoft account, so i enter my email and app password and it stays on this screen with 2 boxes
that are unselectable, which say "remember password" and "next". it continuously loads and then after about 2 minutes it gives an error that says "there was a problem" and it gives me the code 80072741. i've looked everywhere online and can't seem to find
anything that works. also, everything is labelled as working on the xbox live status thing.

does anyone have any suggestions or any fixes?

Thanks for posting on the Xbox forums. We understand that you are unable to sign in to your Xbox 360 profile through your Xbox One X. The credentials refer to the email address or password for your account. If you need to enter your credentials for
your account, you will have to remove the Xbox 360 profile and download it back. At the moment, there is

a service alert for signing to Xbox Live through the Xbox 360. This may affect your account. We recommend waiting until the service alert is lifted, and try signing in to your Xbox 360 profile again. Be sure to let us know the results

whats more, i can't even sign into a profile. i will test my network, it will connect to xbox live, then i will try and sign into my Live profile and it will say "unable to connect to xbox live"

Have you tried re-downloading your profile?

i'll have a go at that in the morning and let you know if it works. it's currently midnight and i don't want to wake anyone up.

I'm unable to sign in or download profile 6pm PST I was at the tower in Destiny. and signed out of Xbox live appeared on screen .
