    Unable to sign in to Minecraft Launcher with Mojang account


    Since I installed Minecraft Launcher on my computer, I'm always getting this message when I try to login to Minecraft Launcher with Mojang account.

    When I opened the Minecraft Launcher, I was asked to migrate my Mojang account to a Microsoft account.

    I didn't want to do that, and then ignored it.

    I tried to add my Mojang account, but it didn't work.

    I tried to log in using the Microsoft account option, but the login failed.

    I tried to log in with MCLeaks, but I was never able to log in.

    Each time I tried, I always got that popup I talked above.

    I tried again after reinstalling the launcher, and it did not work. I tried again after about 2 hours, and it still did not work. I tried yet again, and it still didn't work.

    This issue only occurs on the launcher, I was able to log in on the Minecraft website.

    I have provided a screenshot of the error popup in case it is needed.

    I have been a fool...

    When I sign in to Microsoft to edit my mojang account, it gives me no options for minecraft java. I sign into my microsoft account in the mojang launcher and I'm met with "invalid account" responses.

    I don't understand. You can sign in to the Minecraft website with your Mojang or Microsoft account?

    And the error happens only on the launcher then?

    Please follow these steps:

    1- Sign out of both the Xbox App and the Microsoft store,

    2- Sign back in with the same account on both platforms,

    3- Open Minecraft Launcher,

    4- Sign in with Xbox/Microsoft (Not the Mojang option),

    5- In the Minecraft Launcher (Top left) you will see your profile picture (click it),

    6- Click the 'Manage Minecraft: Java Edition Profile', which will then lead you to the Mojang website,

    7- On the Mojang website, login via Xbox/Microsoft with the same account (That has access to Minecraft),

    8- From the Mojang website, click 'My Games' and amongst the many options there is one that reads 'Minecraft Java Edition'. Click Profile Name and set one.

    9- Now go back to the Minecraft Launcher (Maybe restart it for good measure) and Mojang should now set a username for you instead of having to do it manually through the Launcher. This may not stop the message you get every time you open it up but it will launch the game.

    10- Start up Java Edition.

    Please tell me if this helps for anyone else.

    A more simple answer would be:

    Just go to Mojang, sign in with the minecraft microsoft/xbox account, set a profile name for your java edition and this should work.

    Oh, if you're looking for Minecraft Java Edition simply sign-in on the Microsoft account that you used in migrating your Mojang to Minecraft Launcher and you should be able to install and launch the game from there.

    If your subscription is current, try quitting and relaunching the game

    Make sure that you're signed in under the account where you migrated your Mojang account, Benjamin.

    Please sign out on your Minecraft launcher and then quit the launcher before signing back in.
