Unable to sign in since anniversary update Error code (0x406)

I have been unable to sign in to the Xbox app ever since updating with the anniversary update. This effects my windows 10 Xbox live games as well.

I open the app and it stays on one screen saying the app cannot communicate and to try again later, even the need help link doesn't work.

I have searched online for a week now with no success, I have uninstalled with power shell and reinstalled, I went into services and re-enabled the 3 xbox services which were set to manual instead of automatic.

I am able to sign in normally on my Xbox One and the website, my main account has no issues on windows 10 other than this.

I am hoping I wont have to uninstall the update and roll back to an earlier date.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am unable to sign into the XBox app. Pressing sign in does nothing and underneath the button is the error:

We are unable to sign you in at the moment. Try again later. (0x406). Help appreciated.

Good to know these threads are pointless for community help.

I fixed the issue I had by creating a new local account on my machine, signing in and then logging out.

Something about the account change unlocked the xbox live sign in process and everything is back to working the way it was on my main account.

Way to keep up the Quality control Microsoft, it shouldn't have taken 2 weeks to stumble across a fix

 

I have the save error code and I have been on chat with three different people and they can't help m,e. What do I do now?
