unable to send messages

Hello, For the last couple of days I have not been able to send messages through my xbox 360 to players who aren't my friends.

It's annoying as I can't reply to anyone who sends me a message and they must think I'm ignorant.

I get a message saying "message could not be sent"

I never had a problem sending messages until about 3 days ago. Now when I try to send one I get a Validation Error message about making sure my privacy settings are set to allow messaging. So I go into xbox.live and look at all my settings, which have
never changed, and see that they are set to allow messaging, but I still can't message.

So sorry didn't get back to you soon, and the account still hasn't been fixed 3 weeks later. I can send messages in any other imaginative way. Smartglass, xbox.com, 360, 360 backwards compatibility... just not through the Xbox One side guide. I have pretty
much stopped playing for the last little bit if the fix ever happens. I am annoyed about this and they wont escalate me.

 

Can you check if you have family/parental control on as it can limit communication to people that aren't on your friend's list.

You have a limit of messages you can send to people who are not on you friendliest.

Call the support if this is going on since days.

 

Thank you for your help HaloJolly, a couple of people asked me questions that I could not reply to and I'd never sent them messages before. So it can't be that. I'll try support. Thanks again.

 

yeah I'm getting the same thing, apparently, xbox is having some difficulties. I don't know anything else other than that.

 

and yes I know I sent a reply to a month old thread, but I'm getting the same thing, and this was the 1st thread that popped up.

 

Ever since the Xbox One servers have gone up I've had trouble with messages and other service problems on my Xbox 360. Yeah the One is great, but Microsoft, don't forget about the 360, in which I don't spend $60+ a year on service that requires me to try
10+ tries to send a message. This is absolutely ridiculous.

 

I found out that it's basically a limit on how many messages you can send to others outside your friends list. too many and you can't send messages to anyone for 24 hours. at least that's what was wrong with me

This has been happen to me for about 2 months now and its getting rather annoying. This is the only thread that I could find that people are having the same problem as me.

 

It still happens to me. It's been months. My messages WILL send to people not on my friends list, I just have to try sending it like 15+ times. Although messages to friends work perfectly fine. It must be a service bug then. I wish microsoft would really
check it out.

https://enforcement.xbox.com/ and see what that site is saying about your reputation. It will give you a breakdown of reputation and reports filed against you (as well as by you) over a period of six months.
