    Unable to select apps or games after idle time


    Hello All,

    I'm having issues with my Xbox one in terms of unable to play games that the disc is in for and selecting other apps. I can navigate the home pane and go to the different tabs, but when pressing "a" or using the kinnect to select an option, the Xbox just
    makes the "beep" sound and sits there. The only way to fix the problem is to unplug the power cord and reboot. Is there a setting I am missing? Also how do you actually turn the system off? Not the stand by mode it appears to enter when I push the button
    or turn it off VIA the controller.

    Quitting games and then starting them takes up to a minute for the game to start again

    Often times I have to quit out of a game because it is either hosed or not responding. After i select Quit on the game I am unable to select the game with A and launch it. It seems it takes up to 30 seconds to a minute before the game will launch again.

    Instead of pulling the plug you can hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds until it shuts down.

    When it starts up again head to Settings>Disc & Blu Ray and uncheck Enable BD Live then click on Clear Persistent Storage 3 times and finally hold the power button on the console until it shuts down again.

    If you still have issues playing disc based games or accessing apps/etc after that then you may need to send the console in for a repair.

    Go to settings, select preferences, and hit idle options. Now, uncheck “Show me things when idle.” This should get rid of the idle problem.
    This will fix the current issue, but removes the idle screen. This sounds like a bug as it is not intended to idle while watching a disc based movie (or streaming content either).

    Ensure you have the latest version of the bluray app from the store. If that doesn't fix it, the work around M3tal Daz3 suggested will work, but it not a permanent fix as it removes the Idle option from the console.

    Don't leave the game idle. Exit out to the dashboard after playing, hit the "Menu" button on your controller, and select "quit". It's freezing and the issues are being caused by trying to connect to EA's servers.
