    So 2 1/2 years later and nothing has changed. I was unable to renew my Gold subscription using my on-file credit card, I was unable to renew using a prepaid card, and when I called/chatted with MS support I was told "Oh well, too bad but you will have to
    wait until your current subscription expires before you can renew." So there may be a "verified answer" above, but that is certainly not a verified solution.

    Suspended until I buy 1 year gold subscription.

    When you purchase gold through Xbox it turns on auto-renewal. If you don't turn it off and your subscriptions renews but they are unable to charge you, they suspend your account until you pay for that new subscription that started.

    As long as its not linked to any subscriptions your fine, i only say this as there is an automated renewal service for some subscriptions. These can be adjusted on your Microsoft account, also for piece of mind you can also find your purchase on
