unable to remove console from insider program

Hello ,

I bought a used XBOX one console at a car boot sale. It was reset an all works as it should bar randomly turning itself on when I am asleep. I think to send data collection. I wish to turn this off as I have a metered connection . Currently I am leaving it plugged out when not in use to prevent this. I believe one of the previous owners enrolled it in to the insider preview program and as such the allow optional data collection is greyed out preventing me from disabling it. When I go to the insider program with my own gamertag to leave the preview it gives me an error stating the preview is registered to a different gamertag. it advises me to sign in with the account used to enrol the device. I do not have this. Can Microsoft remotely remove my console from the data base ??

go to settings and power, set to power saving mode, this will turn the console off and will not do updates.

full factory reset may get rid of the insider issue but in my experience you are stuck unless you know or can contact the previous owner. the joys of buying pre owned i am afraid.

You will need to open the Xbox Insider Hub, navigate to Settings, then Manage Devices. You should see the 'current' console listed clearly, which you need to select to remove it from the program.

Is this exactly how you tried to leave the Insider Program?

Changing previews or making changes to them should not be possible unless you are signed in with the account that originally enrolled the console, but you should still be able to remove your device from the program.

seems to have worked a treat . it then installed an update of 4.5gb which I assume is non preview OS and removed accounts from system ( thankfully games were still installed

) I can now also untick send optional data. thanks again

If you have purchased a console that was enroled in the Xbox Insider Program and you are unable to remove the console from the Insider Program yourself please create a post in the Xbox Insider Forums below and a member of staff from the Insider team should
be able to help with this.
