unable to redeem Gears of War 1 and 3. (From Malaysia)

Bought Gears of War 4, received all 4 codes for the Xbox 360 games, but i'm not able to redeem Gears of War 1 and 3.

Gears of war 2 and Judgment works fine

whenever i key in the codes i keep getting this message "change your language region in settings"

I'm from Malaysia, the problem is, the system language region setting in my console does not have my country name.

Hi all, need your help.i try to redeem the gears of war 1 2 3 and judgement from gears of war 4 but none of it is working. I using xbox live malaysia account while my console is singapore set. Any advise please?

I bought a copy of Gears of War 4 for the Xbox One a while back. It came with free downloads of Gears of War 1-3 and Gears of War Judgement. I was able to redeem Gears of War 2 and Judgment but am unable to redeem Gears of War 1 and 3. And with 3, it says
the code has already been used but it does not appear in my library, whereas with 1, I am simply unable to redeem it. Please help.

There are possibly two issues you're having. The first being that Xbox Live is not supported in your region Xbox Live Countries | Xbox Live International

The second issue is that some codes are often only valid in specific regions.

 

I had this issue before, the code is most likely region locked, here's what I did, I tried to redeem the code online on my PC here : microsoft.com/redeem

I was also using VPN, I just kept changing countries until one of them worked for me xD

I tried redeeming via VPN and using microsoft.com/redeem website but it seems the website insist on redeeming in the console side. Hence the problem is still there and i have no idea how to proceed.

The steps that i have made:

1)Used VPN for microsoft.com/redeem

2)Change region for Microsoft main account to US

3)Language & Region in Xbox one to US

Is there anything else that i can do besides the steps that i have made? This is really frustrating because it keeps telling that i have to change region to redeem this code.

 

There is no way around region locking. In order to redeem the codes, your account region has to match your physical location and you have to be in a region where the games are available. Since Malaysia is not a supported country, the games are not available
there.
