Unable to redeem 12 months of gold offer

My gold subscription is ending, and I'd like to take advantage of the following offer which is available from the Xbox 360 dashboard. But whenever I select "RENEW GOLD NOW" it offers a quarterly renewal instead of yearly. There is no option to change it;
Change Payment Option allows me to switch credit card or use PayPal but not change the renewal period.

Is this a bug, or am I missing something?

"Something went wrong"

I have my 1 month free gold membership from the box of the console and a 12 months gold membership that I just bought last month and I've been trying to redeem the 1 month gold membership since yesterday but after clicking the confirm,it says "Something
went wrong"(it also happened plenty of times when I tried to redeem my 12 months gold membership yesterday when my 1 month gold membership won't work). Also when I redeem the code for 12 months gold membership, it was read as 1 month and sometimes the 1 month
was read as 12 months so I'm confuse if the code is the problem or there is a problem in xbox.com.

It will add it to your remaining months of GP Ultimate, however as you have already used the $1/£1 upgrade offer it will only give you a portion of the 12 months gold, you get 4 months of Ultimate when redeeming 12 months gold now. So you will have 7 months
total.

My membership was up soon and I got an offer for either three months Gold for £7.50 or if I redeemed a 12 month code they'd give me 400 points.

Given that I am skint at the moment I took the three month offer and turned the automatic renewal off.
