Unable to redeeem 12 Month Live Card - Gives error "something went wrong"

I have a card that came with the messenger kit, used the chatpad, and left the card in a drawer. My xbox live subscription is about to expire and i came across the card, I looked on the card and couldn't find a date or expiration, so thought i would try
to redeem the code. It accepts the code, recognizes it as a12 month code, but when i hit continue it says "something went wrong". Tried on different browsers and different computers, and waited and tried again later but the same thing.

Used the xbox support chat, and spent a hour with somebody, who could not understand why it would not work, he tried to activate it to my account aswell and got the same error. He said the code was valid, had not been redeemed previously. After a hour
he told me he was out of things to suggest, and ended the chat.

If the codes are going to expire then surely they need to put an expiration on all the cards.

Xbox One error code: 0x80169D3A5031AA9F

I am receiving error code Xbos-0x80169D3A5031AA9F-90FE-4BDB-910C-4841294F3E16 when attempting to redeem a 12 month Xbox Live subscription code. Any ideas? The text says, "Something went wrong. Give it another try." This has been occurring since last night.

It tells us to confirm our 3 months plus one free month for Xbox one live and it tell us , "something went wrong." It doesnt give us an error code so we entered what was at the bottom.

 

It may work once your current sub runs out, it could be a "stacking" issue.

 

A similar situation happened with me, I typed in the code and nothing happened, so I typed in the code again and received an error message, so I backed out and checked my renewal date info and somehow it had been accepted, so it might be what "THEOWENKILLER“
says about a "stacking“ issue

Check your renewal date, see if it was accepted, even though you keep getting an error message
