unable to recover legacy XBL account

This is one hell of an IT issue. And the Virtual Agent is of no help and getting a human being on the phone is near impossible. I had a chat with a helpful agent who said theyd raise this issue with an Accounts team, but I havent heard anything yet.


Im considering getting an Xbox again, but Id want to use my original XBL account.

My account is legacy, created in 2007-2008. Back then, there were not a lot of the account security features like we have now. The email seems to be the one recovery option for it. When I make any attempt to recover it, the only option is to send a reset
code to an email Im certain no longer exists.

This all started on a faithful day in 2012, when the Xbox 360 with my account info on it red ringed, and I lost access. I used my 360's auto-sign in to play. When I lost the account, I created a new XBL account (this one), which was intended to be a temporary
measure. But weeks turned into months, months turned into years, and apathy/switching to PC pushed the issue into the back of my mind.

My family had Comcast internet back then, and this XBL account is tied to that defunct Comcast.net email. Remember, this account is OLD and I was a adolescent when I made it. I dont remember the password I made it all those years ago;

I even attempted to recover the email from Comcast (now xfinity) who said they could unfreeze it if i could provide our old membership code that can be found on the bill. Its been nearly a decade since my parents had that service, and although they're impeccable
record keepers, not even they wouldnt have that sort of info lying around. I was a child at the time... now I'm an adult whos parents live almost a hundred miles away. The only way I could recover this email would be to sit down with my father with xfinity
support, who are even harder to get in contact with than Microsoft!

Ive tried to submit one of those ASCR forms, but it spits out a failed attempt email within seconds, although the only things on the form I cant answer are the 'past passwords used' entry and 'expiration date of the credit card on file'.

The credit card was my father's credit card, and it was on there to auto renew the Gold subscription.

I used the same cc info, and played all the same games. In fact, if a human being were to audit the this, they would be able to see the the first purchases and payment info on THIS account match up perfectly with the last transactions on THAT account. They
would also see the last time THAT account was used was the same day THIS one was created. I looked at my purchase history and sure enough, it goes back to 2012. I can see the last 4 digits of my father's old card.

Its extremely frustrating to be the owner of an account, but not being able to gain access bc I cant jump through enough hoops for some automated system. From what IT support told me, recovery of legacy accounts via the recovery form are almost entirely based
on the console ID; that 360 redringed over 8 years ago and finding that is hopeless. I need to speak to someone who has the ability to examine this information, and send me a reset manually.

I submitted a support ticket about this, but I haven't gotten a response.

If anyone can offer me some advice, or actual help, Id be eternally grateful. This issue has been going on for years, and I usually just resolve to chalk it up to a loss. Now that Im considering a return to Xbox, Im going all in to get this account back.
