Unable to read game from Disc - Has worked in the past

When you borrowed your friend's disc, did you uninstall it from your console and then try to install the copy on your friends disc, or did you just put it in to check if it launched?

If your profile does not work, then I would suggest clearing your local saves by going to
Settings> System> Storage> Clear Local Saved Games. This will have the console try to re-sync the account that you are trying to play the game up when you try to launch it.

If that does not work, it more than likely means that the data for the game on your account could be corrupted, and you would have to start the game on another profile with another save.

I have now have had the opportunity to reset my Xbox. I first encountered the issue when I upgraded to the One X and I got the same result after a reset, the disc does not work.

What I now also have tested is to reset the Xbox and set it up with a new microsoft account, without any association to my original account.

This made the disc work. The disc started and began to install the game on the Xbox.

I then reseted the Xbox again and set it up with my original microsoft account - the disc does not work.

Sorry to hear that you're dealing with this issue trying to get your game to work.

If you have already tried following the steps outlined above, then you might wanna give a soft reset a try. It's a reset of the console to factory defaults without uninstalling any games.

Just remember that before you go ahead with that step that you note all your sign info for your important account (as they'll totally be removed from your Xbox during this step) and that you have easy internet access so that it will go smoothly.

You state you tried your friends game disk on your console. have you tried your disk on your friends console? If that works you most likely need a repair for your disk tray as it isn't working correctly. You can set one up at

I have not tried my disc on my friends Xbox. I have no trouble with other discs. I have tried AC: Origins and The Division, and the work perfectly.

We appreciate all the details that you're sharing with us to help get this issue resolved.

Just to be clear, you've tried the Ghost Recon: Wildlands disc game on 3 different consoles, your new console, your old console

and your friend's console? And it hasn't worked on either of the 3 consoles? Is that correct?

One thing I would suggest trying is, unplugging your Xbox one X console from the power supply / wall outlet for 5 minutes.

Then plugging it back in and trying the disc again.

I have tried my GR:Wildlands disc on my two Xboxes. But to make sure it was not an issue with the disc, I borrowed my friend's GR:Wildlands disc, and that disc did not work either. My friends disc works at his Xbox.
