    Unable to play Red Dead Redemption 2 story mode offline


    Until very recently I have been able to play rdr2 offline with no problem. Since the most recent update (Feb 15 2022, i think) has completely broken offline play for this game. This is super frustrating because My wifi is terrible and I am now loosing large amounts of progress due to my game randomly quitting to home screen saying "Check Connection".

    I should mention I have a digital copy so I can't do a disk install.

    I have hard reset my xbox, I have removed and re-added my profile, I have cleared local save data, I have set and un-set my xbox to "home xbox". I'm in the process of reinstalling rdr2 but it's literally going to take days.

    (I've contacted Rockstar and they said the issue was on xbox's end and that their game can be played offline.)

    Can you work on fixing this issue caused by the update? I really don't want to prematurely put this game down due to Xbox's incompetence.

    HELP NEEDED ASAP

    Are you sure that you purchased the full Red Dead Redemption 2 and not just the Red Dead Redemption 2: Story Mode. If you purchased the Story Mode, then you need to own Red Dead Online in order to play it. Story Mode is just DLC for Red Dead Online and cannot be played or installed without Red Dead Online.

    Did you purchase the full game Red Dead Redemption 2 or did you purchase Red Dead Redemption 2: Story Mode, which is an add-on for Red Dead Online? If you purchased Story Mode, then you need to purchase Red Dead Online to keep using the add-on. Story Mode is not a stand alone game. Red Dead Online used to be on Game Pass but was removed back in September.

    Red Dead Redemption 2: Story Mode is just an add-on for Red Dead Online. Red Dead Online is required in order to play Story Mode. Since RDO was removed from Game Pass, you would need to purchase Red Dead Online in order to keep playing the add-on for that game.

    As of September 13, Red Dead Online has now been removed from Xbox Game Pass. Red Dead Redemption 2: Story Mode is downloadable content for Red Dead Online and was not included with Game Pass. Therefore, you would have had to purchase it in order to access it.

    For our users that have purchased Red Dead Redemption 2: Story Mode and are no longer able to access it, you will have to purchase Red Dead Online as it is a requirement.

    Currently you are able to purchase Red Dead Online, Red Dead Redemption 2: Story Mode & Red Dead Redemption 2 (which bundles both the story mode and online)
