Unable to play Original Fable and Morrowind

if the harddrive is electronically recognized as a "Microsoft" brand harddrive would the word "Microsoft" printed on next to the amount storage you have left on the storage devices listed in the menu? and if not, why are we even discussing this because "i
purchased the game on the xbox live marketplace". wouldn't XBOX360 Live put up a warning stating that "if you do not have an official Microsoft XBOX360 harddrive the game will not work"? so can you answer why do all other games purchased on the Marketplace
work and not this one? and stop trying to sell me things from different sites please. I know how to buy things.

 

Oh and another question is it possible to bootleg an internal HDD that i purchased from a store brandnew? the 512 MB may not be able to download the Fable game but it should still play disc games right ( especially if the game is listed on the "backwards
compatible list"), if all the proper updates are applied.

 

All original Xbox games require an official MS brand hard drive in order to run because of the emulation software required to run them, even if they're downloaded from the marketplace. That is why the hard drive is usually the reason they won't run. Knock
offs can still be shown as being a "Microsoft" hard drive in the storage menu. Knock offs can be very convincing by the look of them. The only thing they don't do, is play original Xbox games.

 

What Smwutches and davemcfly85 are telling you is correct - you do not have an official Microsoft Hard Drive for your 360 model, but a 3rd party knock-off. These sellers are able to format the drive in the proper format for the 360 to recognize it as a useable
hard drive, and will appear as a Microsoft hard drive when attached (otherwise it would not work at all). However they are not able to add the partition which contains all the backwards compatibility files and emulator to make original Xbox games work on the
console. You cannot use the internal flash storage to install original Xbox games, and even if you were it would still be lacking the partition with the emulation software necessary to make the game function on the 360.

With Microsoft no longer making these drives for the original 360 design, it is becoming difficult to find new ones (at least at a reasonable price) and any used one can be suspect, especially the larger capacity ones. The best suggestion I can offer is
to research the seller thoroughly and ask direct questions about whether it is an official drive or a remanufactured/rebuilt one. Specifically ask if it can run original Xbox games so if you find this is not the case, you have a proper reason to return the
item. The best option is to find a new one in the original packaging (that way you know it is official), followed by purchasing from a trusted seller.

 

I don't understand "why" it won't run on the original XBOX360 harddrive, inside the console itself.

 

What's inside the console would not be a hard drive. It would be internal flash memory. The internal memory does not have the emulation software required to run the games. Only the hard drives do.

Please post back links to images of the top and bottom of your hard drive. You can upload these images to
OneDrive or any other image hosting site of your choice. Once I have those, I will be able to let you know what our next steps are!

 

thats just amazing. so they won't play purchased games from the xbox live market place does anyone else have a problem like this one. it really doesn't make any sense to me. so i have to purchase an official harddrive to play a limited amount of games
that are available on the backwards compatible list. so much trouble to play so little. and it costs so much...(not just money mind you)

well i don't really like the answer i suppose the quest has been answered ...

 

i will just get an original xbox it is probably cheaper and i can play all the original games that i like not just a few they allow on download or the *list.
