Unable to play multiplayer and cant get to the page to change the setting for it

i was able to figure it out, apparently my account is a child's account so that's the problem, but I should be able to fix it. thank you so much for your help

im not the original asker, but im having the same problem. im on a pc and i do not have an xbox console, but im trying to join my friends realm. i tried to follow the instructions given but my problem was that i cannot find a way to access the privacy and online safety settings. it just kept leading me around in circles to support pages and such, but not a page for settings. maybe this is because i might have a child account ? but im not sure if i do and i dont know how to check, is there any way i can check this and if this would be the reason i cannot access the privacy and safety settings ?

This could be the case, in order to check if your on a child account you pretty much would be restricted from accessing your settings did you try the link I provided via the support page? Or I know that If you long into your Microsoft account you can access account settings. https://account.microsoft.com/account/privacy?lang=en-GB

Regarding your issue, you can try changing your privacy settings from the Xbox console too, but if you are not able to do that, please try changing the browser you are using on your device, or clear your cache.

Try also to make sure that your account is not a child's account that requires an adult account to manage it, the issue might be because of that.
