    unable to play move, opponent not available


    many weeks ago I started a game (of Alphajax) with user 'SilkierPlacebo8', who played a few moves but has now been idle for several weeks.

    When I look at that game it asks if I wish to force him to resign due to inactivity. I say 'OK', and it gives an error message 'unable to play move, opponent not available'.

    Hi SuperGumbyAU - I have had this happen to me in the past - really frustrating!!

    As far as I understand, the opponent had the maximum number of games open (30 I think). He/she had to finish one or more games before I could force their resignation. It took over a week before I could clear their game from my list.

    I think the Microsoft Studio developers need to look at this issue because it could result in an infinite loop.

    it has been another few weeks and I have tried to force resignation several times. Still getting same message.

    Guess I just keep trying until MS 'fix' the problem.

    Gosh, I'm complaining after only a week! It's really annoying when I have maximum games open but only half of them are playing! I want to force resignation now!!!

    Forced End Didn't Result In Win

    MZS03 is right. If you start the game and the opponent never made a move, then you don't get a win or a loss. If both players have made a move, or even if your opponent accepted the invite and didn't play a move, then you would get a walkover win.
