Unable to play Game Pass games offline

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We understand you have question on playing game pass games offline. Unfortunately, they are unable to be played offline. As you do not technically own the games it need to be online for the license.

go to setting and make your Xbox home Xbox because when you're offline, your console doesn't generate your receipt and usually asks you to sign in to the account or to buy the game.

You mean open the game while online, then go to settings and take the console offline? No, haven't tried that. All games work flawlessly online. Xbox does not have any data on my subscription when offline, so games don't work.

My typical scenario is this - watching something on Netflix, suddenly lose internet connectivity, then I start a game on Xbox instead. That does not work anymore.

I have no need to take it offline use due to any bandwidth concerns. It's just that the ISPs over here are prone to occasional outages, a few minutes to an hour long.

I can always fire up my backup 4g wifi hotspot just for connectivity in a pinch, but it is an inconvenience I'd rather avoid if possible.

This is something i noticed as well. When i first got game pass i could play offline but now it seems to be changed.

Yeah, that 'handshake' is not working. Go offline, be it manually or due to network trouble, and the Xbox forgets all about the subscription. Its moderately irritating, seeing it ask me to check my subscription, when I have already paid up for 12 months.

My console is set as the Home console. No one else uses it or shares this account. I'm the only gamer in the household.
