Unable to play as a split screen multiplayer .

I purchased a X Box One from Amazon in the UK to replace my X Box 360 and to enable me and my nephew to play the Halo 5 game. The X Box one only came with a single controller and so I got ordered another controller from Amazon but this was to take over 30
days before delivery as it was coming from China , So as I was visiting Japan , I purchased another controller from their large department Stores during the visit ( and the controller is all official Microsoft and looks exactly the same as the original one
posted to me. ) The problem is , I have both controllers in the docking station ( which I also got from Amazon in the UK ) and they both charge up properly and both work excellently but only one at a time. If I try to use both so we can have a battle between
us ( and not on-line as I am not very good at these games and my nephew is incredible on the games but as he is only six years old. I am not to bothered in going online with the console. The console is registered and linked via the Ethernet cable for updates
and connection with my PC but we are unable to just use the X Box One as we do the X Box 360 and just shoot together as a multiplayer game. ( I entered in the 14 day free trail also of which I guess is almost out of date now and we never got to see or use
that at all. ) Is there something else I should be doing to enable multiplayer or is this not a console for home use only ? Thanks for any help .

The game features split-screen functionality,
however an HDTV with a Component or HDMI cable is required for Split-Screen play. Split-screen functionality works with a VGA connection to a PC monitor as well as HDMI-to-DVI cables to a PC monitor. Up to 4 players can play in split
screen*, as well as the possibility to play 8-person online multiplayer game modes in split-screen.

If you're not using an HDTV with the correct connection you won't get the split screen to work, once you have the display connection set up it should be as simple as pressing start on the second controller to join the current game.

I don't think Halo 5 supports local split screen multiplayer if you want to play split screen I would suggest you try Halo Master Chief Collection.

 

Yep. Halo 5 is single player only. MCC's split screen ability in campaign will depend on which campaign you're playing. 2 person for CE/H2 and 4 for the rest.

 

There is no split screen in Halo 5 on the Xbox One.
