Unable to pay for gold with xbox live credit

I bought £30 of xbox credit to top up my sons xbox live account so that he could renew his gold membership only to find that this is not possible. Microsoft insist that I buy a separate credit to update his gold account.. I have been in touch with Microsoft
and have been informed that there is nothing they can do as it is company policy to keep the two accounts (Gold and Live) separate. I have since found out that many other people have been caught out by this. The only reason I can think why Microsoft would
do this is to con extra money out of their users. The sooner Microsoft change this the better.

Why can't I pay for the 1 month gold for 1 dollar with my Microsoft credit

I have $1.68 cents Microsoft credit left on my Xbox one and they have a deal to get Xbox gold live for $1.00 for a month but instead they ask me to pay with a debit card /credit or pay pal but there no option to pay with Microsoft credit but the only other
option is to pay using a code

 

Xbox Live Gold Membership 3 month purchase with 50 dollars on my account

Xbox Live Gold has only ever been able to be purchased with a credit card/pay pal or with pre-paid Gold subscription cards.

 

The only ways you have EVER been able to purchase Gold is either with a credit card/Paypal or with prepaid Gold subscription cards. That's the way it has been. Xbox account money can only be used to buy dlc, games, movies, and music. Just like when they
were points instead of actual dollars. It's always been this way. Why do you think there are separate cards for Gold and currency?

 

The currency system is not set up to work with a recurring subscription which is why it's not a valid payment option.
