Unable to open XB1 SmartGlass

I have tried on two devices, both running Windows 8.1, to open XB1 Smartglass. However, it opens the green screen and then closes. I don't have a chance to connect at all, so that is not the problem. It won't open at all. Please help!

The whole Smartglass stuff seems to lame to me!

Make sure you have new version of Smartglass designed for XB1... there are two versions... 360 & XB1...

 

Can I use smartglass as a keyboard?

Yes you can use SmartGlass as keyboard. Open keyboard on your Xbox One console, and it also opens keyboard automatically in SmartGlass. When I need to type something, I always use SmartGlass.

This appears to be a somewhat widespread problem. It started 12/31 for me, and was working perfectly the night before.

 

So it's not an isolated issue? I thought something had happened to my phone for it to stop working. Thankfully, this isn't the case.

 

I'm having the same issue, I just bought a Surface Pro 3 today and it automatically installed the Xbox One app. When I go to start up the app, it flashes the splash screen and then it closes down again. The tablet shows that the app is still running but
I can't get any further than the splash screen. The Xb One Smartglass works perfectly still on my Note 4 phone but not on the new SP 3

 

Same here. Force closes on my windows phone. Tried reinstalling.

 

Same, as of 12/31 sometime in the afternoon. I was on it all morning messaging friends, but at 9pm MST I wasn't able to open Xbox One Smartglass (and Beta,) across multiple devices. Lumia Icon, Surface Pro 2

Same issue here, reinstalled and no progress. Was working fine yesterday morning then later in the evening stopped working on all devices.

 

Exact same problem for me too. Stinking Microsoft! Can't fix their games, servers, or apps!

 

I have the exact same issue. Windows 8.1 and I open SmartGlass (release and beta versions), and get a green window. Then it kind of crashes by minimizing the window but not actually launching, you can click the app to make the green screen pop back up for
a second only to minimize again but not actually load.

 

There is somekind of bug within the app that causes this crash.

It has to do with the year 2015.

Try setting your systemdate back to a random date in 2014 and your Smartglass app will boot fine!

Guess we will have to wait for a fix or update from Microsoft concering this bug.
