    Unable to open Microsoft Movies & TV app on xbox360 (status=80c90010)


    When I click on Microsoft Movies and TV, to rent a movie, it takes me to an error screen that reads: "The xbox service isn't available right now. Please try again later. (status=80c90010). I've tried doing all the normal things, like deleting profiles and
    apps, reinstalling updates. Nothing has worked since yesterday. I can watch previews, just can't access the rentals.

    I did try to add some parental controls to my son's xboxOne yesterday, and I'm wondering if somehow I caused a glitch by adding my profile onto his xbox as well. All my settings on my xbox seem normal. Any ideas? The error code is not recognized by Microsoft.

    Hello Tamara,

    Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. Have you tried reverting the parental controls to see if they have any relation to this issue? If so, we can try removing the hard drive from the 360, and then re-inserting it. This step helps resolve some issues
    that are not resolved through other troubleshooting.

    Aside from that, are you able to try a connecting different network to your Xbox 360? Sometimes you have to transport your console somewhere else to try this, but you can try out a hotspot as well.

    Still no solution that I'm aware of. There are now several other threads about the same problem.

    Are members with "Ambassador" status actually Microsoft employees, or is it a case of Microsoft outsourcing support to their customers? And why is it that nobody can say what causes status code 80C90010 to be generated?

    Further, as others have noted, testing the Xbox Live connection flags a Service Alert, yet when you go to the website there are no alerts current. Possibly this is another manifestation of the bug. I suspect that when the Movies & TV app was updated, it
    broke something for Xbox 360 users.
