Unable to navigate dashboard menus

Ill start by saying I have done a hard restart multiple times.

When I restart my Xbox One, I am unable to navigate through the dashboard. Im actually able to load a game but when I bring up the side menu xbox wont let me navigate it and in turn im still controlling the game menus in the background.

Its not my controller since ive dont this with multiple controllers.

You can also try clearing the MAC address to refresh the console and see if that helps.

There was a service alert earlier, which now seems to be fixed, try power cycling your console. Press & hold power button until it turns off, then unplug power from the console, wait a few minutes, then plug back in, and turn back on. Hopefully that will
fix the issue.

We understand that you're experiencing an issue concerning a black screen instead of getting to the home screen for the Xbox One console. This was due to an active service alert and has since been fixed,
and to test this we suggest the following.

Please perform a power cycle on the console at this time:

Disconnect and reconnect your console's power cable

Turn off the Xbox One console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down completely.
Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 10 seconds.
Important Be sure to wait 10 seconds. This step resets the power supply.
Plug the console power cable back in.
Press the Xbox button on your console to turn on the Xbox One.

Try this and let us know the results.

Hello All,

Sorry for any issues you are having due to the Service alert. Looks like the service alert is
coming toan end. Please
power cycleyour console and see if it is back to normal when
it comes up.Clear the alt mac by going to settings>network>network settings>adv. Settings> alt mac clear and restart.

Hello UberBlakGi I was reading your question, and the reply that was provided by .
It would be best to contact support as mentioned, however I just thought I would add a suggestion.

You may need to disconnect the power cord from the back of your xbox 1 in order to get that full restart.

I usually disconnect the power for at least 10 seconds, then reconnect and power up my Xbox 1. This is a complete restart, and something support will probably suggest to you.

I agree with Travis26, and I edited my initial answer with that thought also before I realised he'd made it also, so that's two independent suggestions on doing a complete power off and restart
