Unable to listen to voice messages sent from Xbox 360 on my Xbox One

I have been sent a few messages from people on Xbox 360 and when I play them on my One, there is no sound at all.

I have checked by playing them both on my 360 and through the website using my iPad and then I can hear the messages just fine.

Friends are great, and we cannot stand a day with out them.

To hear that your son cant talk with his friends is sad, I wish he could.

The only platforms Xbox 360 can talk to are:

• Other 360 Systems
• Games For Windows Games With Live Enabled.
• Messages From 360, and One Users *text and voice *Pictures for 360 only

The only platforms Xbox One can talk to are:

• Other One Systems
• Xbox App On PC
• Messages From 360, and One Users
• Groups, on PC and One.

Xbox One Can Use The Following For Voice or Voice Chat:

• Currently Skype at the moment.

Hey there hson4real.

To make sure, are you opening up the messages while within a Backward Compatible title on your Xbox One or are you opening them from the Xbox One side of things?

 

I'm doing it from the Xbox One message tab in the main UI.

However, I just tried to record a video showing the problem, but funnily enough it works again.

I've been sent three voice messages this week and has been unable to hear their messages on my Xbox One (been able to hear all of them on my 360 and on xbox.com), but today I can hear all three of them.

Must have been some temporary problem...

 

I have found out what's the problem.

As soon as I attach a headset to my controller, I can't hear any voice comm at all.

I have even tried recording my own voice message (without sending it) and as long as a headset is attached to my controller, I can't hear anything.

When I unplug the headset I can listen to my own recording as well as my voice messages.

And it doesn't matter which typer of headset I have attached, have tried with several different and the result is the same.

Any clue what might be the problem?

Do you have another Xbox One controller you are able to try your headset on? And which kind of headset are you attempting to use?
