Unable to launch or uninstall Skyrim Special Edition.

So I downloaded Skyrim SE through Game Pass on the Xbox App on PC. I downloaded it on my external hard drive, D:, and when I tried to launch it, it asked for admin permission twice before saying that It could not find the path to the launcher. I looked at the path it was trying to find the launcher from and it was trying to find it from my C: drive. I figured that if something was wrong with the pathing, uninstalling and reinstalling it might help, so I did that. However, no matter what method I used to uninstall it, whether by the Xbox app, apps and features, etc., the files would remain on my computer so that when I tried to reinstall it, it would instantly complete the download because Skyrim was already installed. When launching, it displayed the same error message. Please help me either launch the game or uninstall it so that it doesn't waste space on my computer.

Programs and apps downloaded from the Microsoft Store are installed in the following path by default: C:/Program Files/WindowsApps (Hidden items). To check hidden items, open This PC, click View and select Hidden items.

To take over the folder;

- Here is the path you should follow: C

rogram Files.

- Go to View and check the box next to Hidden items.

- Locate the Windows Apps folder and right-click on it.

- Select Properties from the drop-down menu.Select Security. Then select Advanced.

- Go to Owner. There click Change.Enter Microsoft account email address.

- Check the box next to ‘Replace owner on subcontainers and objects’.

- Apply your changes.

- Locate and click your account in the list. Click Edit.

- Check the box next to Full Control.

From there you can try manually removing the game. The game files themselves might be named weirdly so make sure if you're deleting files they're the right ones.

So I was able to take ownership of the files and delete the Skyrim files, but now when I try to download skyrim again, it does not download and gets stuck at 0% with a 0b/s download speed, despite my connection to the internet.

Hello Ben,

We understand that you're experiencing an issue involving Skyrim: Special Edition not installing the most up to date version of the game.

We suggest the following:

Uninstall Skyrim: Special Edition
Reset the console while keeping games and apps
Reinstall the game once again

Note: This will remove profiles, so be sure to keep all information for signing into any/all accounts.

Hello!

That's an interesting thought. I'm surprised they don't have a vanilla option when starting the game. I would be skeptical if they would do it, but at this point reaching out to the developer would probably be the only way to see that eventually happen.
