    Unable to Launch Halo Infinite on Windows 11

    Hello,

    Like many others I am unable to launch Halo Infinite on Windows 11.

    I previously was playing the Halo Infinite Multiplayer prior to the release of the campaign, this worked perfectly. I preordered the campaign and redeemed the code through the Microsoft Store, and downloaded the Campaign when it was released.

    Although the game is downloaded/installed, when launching the game I receive this error each time I attempt to launch:

    'Windows Cannot Access the Specified device, path or file. You May not Have the Appropriate Permissions to Access the Items'

    I have searched extensively and found others with this issue on different games. I have attempted their solutions such as:

    * Changing the permissions of the folder and nested files to be owned by my user

    * Running tools like `wsreset`

    * Ensuring all Xbox services are running

    * Uninstalling/reinstalling the xbox app

    * Ensuring I have all of the latest windows updates

    Lastly, I have uninstalled/reinstalled Halo Infinite over 4 times with different configurations

    * With/without campaign

    * With/without hd texture pack

    Unfortunately nothing has worked, and the cherry on top - my working installation of Halo Infinite Multiplayer no longer works.

    Would appreciate any help you could provide, thank you!

    :)

    Unable to Launch Halo Infinite on Windows 11

    Hello I AM SPITZ,

    Sorry to hear those didn't work for you. Solutions that work for some may not necessarily work for others.

    You may need to take ownership of the folder.

    1. First, make sure you’re logged on with an account that has administrative privileges.
    2. Right-click the file or folder and choose Properties, switch to the Security tab, and then click Advanced.
    3. Click the Change link next to the listed owner.
    4. In the Select User or Group window, in the “Enter the object name to select” box, type your user account name, and then click the “Check Names” button. If you typed a valid name, the name should change to show the full username path with the PC name before it. Click Okay.
    5. You should see that your user account is now listed as the owner of the object. If it’s a folder, you’ll also see an option under the owner named “Replace owner on subcontainers and objects.” Make sure that’s selected and then click OK.
    6. Press Ok until you're done with each sub window.
    If that is not the issue, there are more updates rolling out. Keep checking your system, windows store and Xbox app for updates.

    Regards,

    Hayabusa

    Unable to Launch Halo Infinite on Windows 11

    Hello @Hayabusa

    Thank you for your reply. I think we should avoid using the word "solution" when presumably none of these items are confirmed to be fixes as actual solutions for the problem I'm experiencing, but rather they are copy/pasted potential solutions from other Xbox issues.

    Just as an update regardless, none of the "solutions" recommended resolved this issue - unsurprisingly.

    Unable to Launch Halo Infinite on Windows 11

    Hello I AM SPITZ

    I am sorry to hear you are having issues downloading / launching Halo Infinite on your W11 device.

    I can offer a few different possible solutions, and hopefully one of them works for you. Feel free to let me know which (if any) works out for you.

    can offer a few different solutions, and hopefully one of them resolves your issues.

    Solution 1: Make sure you do not have other programs like

    • Anit-virus
    • Firewall
    • PC Optimizers
    Blocking the game from running properly.

    Solution 2: When your Xbox app isn't working, you can try resetting the Xbox app to solve the problem. Here are the detailed steps.

    1. Press Win + I to open Windows Setting.
    2. Select the Apps category. Make sure Apps & features are selected in the left pane. In the right pane, input Xbox in the search box.
    3. In the following window, select the Reset button. Then check if the Xbox works appropriately.
    Solution 3: When the error appears click more info or choose to sign out and sign back in

    Solution 4: Reinstall the Gaming Services app on your Windows 10/11 device:

    1. Select the Search icon on the taskbar, type PowerShell, right-click on Windows PowerShell, and select Run as administrator.
    2. In Windows PowerShell, type the following command and press Enter:
    3. get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
    4. In the same window, type the following command and press Enter:
    5. start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN
    6. Install the app on that page and select Yes when you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.
    7. Restart your device and try to install the game again.
    Solution 5: Troubleshoot game installations on a Windows device Then scroll down to Still having problem and follow the steps to reinstall the game services

    Solution 6: Play games offline on Windows 10 using Offline mode; this error could also be attributed to issues with the Microsoft store not recognizing your entitlement to the game. Would you please click on this link Play games offline on Windows 10 using Offline mode | Xbox Support. Then scroll down and click on the drop-down arrow and look at the steps for How to enable offline play on your device.

    Solution 7: Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files (microsoft.com) If some Windows functions aren't working or Windows crashes, use the System File Checker to scan Windows and restore your files.

    Solution 8: Create a local user or administrator account in Windows (microsoft.com) You can create a local user account (an offline account) for anyone who will frequently use your PC. The best option in most cases, though, is for everyone who uses your PC to have a Microsoft account. With a Microsoft account, you can access your apps, files, and Microsoft services across your devices.

    Can't play Halo Infinite Campaign using Game Pass

    Hello

    I got this error and tried a few things. What I got Halo Infinite to work was this:

    After an uninstall and reinstall of Halo Infinite I did this:

    Open powershell\terminal (win 11) as administrator and run this command:

    get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-Appxpackage –allusers

    I rebooted my machine

    I tried launching Halo Infinite and a Windows store window popped up and I had to install Xbox Gaming services which I did and the campaign was available

    I noticed a few days ago that the latest update to gaming services was just spinning in my microsoft store window. I think a messed up update went to xbox gaming services

    I didnt think it was this because I am in the Beta Channel of win 11 updates but I am working now.
