Unable to join online multiplayer Forza 5

Bought X1 yesterday, installed Forza 5. Tried to join my friends private match, didn't work.

I got error "Could not connect to game server".

Tried to create my own private match, same result.

My NAT is open.

Not yet checked any settings on my asus rt-n56u.

Advice?

These are all really good suggestions. What modem do you have and who is your ISP? Sometimes a device known as a gateway is installed instead of a modem and these devices have additional firewalls in them.

Ensure that you are fully connected to your Internet, and also do you have Xbox Live Gold? You can check this by going to the Subscriptions tile in your settings, or you would have benefits such as the "Free Games with Gold".
However if you do not have a subscription, Xbox typically offer you a 1 month Free Trial, or you can purchase it for regular renewal.



Having a subscription to Xbox Live Gold comes with many benefits such as playing online multiplayer with friends so I recommend that you obtain it! If you are still having a problem with this be sure to come back.

Iv'e troubleshooted the network in the xbox, no problems detected.

Yes, bought 1 month of xbox live gold.

 

Check your Subscriptions to see if the Gold is showing for your account and try connecting to another game if you have one. In addition try connecting to Forza Multiplayer by yourself and see if you are able to connect and join a game session. I would also
perform a
Console Power Cycle and unplugging your router for a few minutes and plugging it back in.

 

Yes it is showing as Gold Active.

Only got forza 5, only bought to be able to play it with a friend.

Revbooted Xbox and router, no luck.

Done the port forwarding, no luck.

Going to return the Xbox to the store if I dont get it working

Sorry to hear about the troubles. There's a couple things I'd like you to try. First thing is to run a multiplayer test. From the Xbox One dashboard, push left on your left thumbstick and navigate down to Settings then click 'All Settings'. Next, scroll
down to 'Network' and select 'Network Settings'. On the right side, please select 'Test Multiplayer Connection'.

What results do you get from that? If you get an error code, please provide that code to us.

The next step would be to remove your Xbox Live account from your Xbox One console and then to re-add it. Please see

this guide for step by step instructions on how to do that.

If that does not work, next I would suggest you try to
Uninstall Forza 5 and then reinstalling it to your Xbox One.
