Unable to join a friend in games.

For the past few months, a friend and I have been unable to play games together online when he or I are hosting the in-game party. To explain, I'll cite a few examples:

In For Honor, if one of us invites the other to a group, the other will accept, but then, after a brief wait, will receive an in-game error message, and will fail to join the group.

In Rocket League, if either he or I host an in-game party and invite the other, both of our names will show at the bottom just fine, but we'll be unable to see each other's car, and if matchmaking is initiated and a game is found, only the host (he or I)
will enter the match, while the other remains at the title screen.

In both of the above scenarios, if someone besides he or I hosts the in-game group, we can play online just fine. Oddly enough, we can platoon together in World of Tanks just fine, regardless of host.

Again, this issue only began a few months ago. Before then, we had no such problem.

Aside from this issue, we can use the Xbox party system to speak to each other just fine.

Also, our NAT types both show as "Open."

Could this issue have been caused by the December 2016 system update, and could it be fixed by an upcoming update?

Any help would be appreciated.

Dead Island Definitive Collection

Has anyone had issues trying to join friends playing this? trying to play dead island and it keeps coming up unable to join game yet it will join random players in seconds......

I was in another lobby not my own.
I have been unable to join any friends lobby, but have been able to invite people into my own

 

1 month, 11 days, and 2 posts written about this issue I'm having, with not even 1 reply.

I was hoping for a little bit of support from a support forum, but I guess that's expecting too much these days.

Is there any other friends you have had this type of behavior occur with, and are you the only person your friend has had issues connecting with? If this is only occurring with that one friend, it definitely sounds like there is a network issue between the
two of you.

Have both of you tried this over wired connection? For now, please try a wired connection (and have your friend do so as well) so we can eliminate if this is a wireless connection issue.

What we will need from both of you is the following information. Since this can possibly be an issue on their end, please have them post in this thread with the same information so we can try to narrow down which side this may be on. It's a lot of information,
but due to the complexity of troubleshooting connection issues with just one specific individual we need all the info we can get!
