Unable to install Xbox from online installer or microsoft store.

We understand that you're trying to install the Xbox app on your new Acer laptop. Error code 0x80070490 usually indicates that there is a problem with the Windows Update components on your computer.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:



Run the Windows Update troubleshooter:

• Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Windows Update > Run the troubleshooter.
  

Reset the Microsoft Store cache:

• Press the Windows key + R, type "wsreset.exe" and press Enter.
  
• This may take a while, please wait until the Microsoft Store launches on its own.
  

Check for updates:

• Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any available updates.
  
• Install all updates including Optional Updates.
  

Perform a clean boot:

• Press the Windows key + R, type "msconfig" and press Enter.
  
• Go to the Services tab, check the "Hide all Microsoft services" box, then click "Disable all".
  
• Go to the Startup tab and click "Open Task Manager".
  
• Disable all startup items, then restart your computer.
  

If issue persists, try power cycle your PC and see if you can install Xbox app:

To power cycle your Windows device, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds until the device shuts down, and then turn it back on.

I am very sorry for what you are going through, there are several things you can try to solve this problem:

Restart your computer. Sometimes a simple restart can fix minor problems.

Check that you have enough disk space. The Xbox app requires at least 500 MB of free disk space.

Make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements. The minimum system requirements for the Xbox app are as follows:

Windows 11 or Windows 10
Intel Core i3-4300 or AMD FX-6300 processor
4GB RAM
500 MB free disk space
Check that your Internet connection is stable.

Installing the Xbox app requires a broadband Internet connection.

Try installing the Xbox app at a different time of day. If the problem only occurs at a specific time of day, it may be a problem with network traffic.

I am unable to install this app as microsoft store will not install apps either

Thank you for your help, however I am currently unable to access the minecraft launcher (it can't be opened/launched, is still showing up in the windows search bar, cannot be uninstalled).

Every time I try to download it again from other places (microsoft store application, minecraft installer application, minecraft launcher from the xbox store), I get an error and it tells me it is unable to install
