Unable to install games on the Xbox app

I have recently begun having an issue with the Xbox app when installing games. My Xbox app worked fine until recently. Now every time I try to download something it prompts me to change the install location through general settings.

I have more than enough space on my drive so that is not the issue.

I was able to install two games after a day of looking through YouTube videos. I'm not even sure how it happened but it was only a temporary fix as Halo infinite was installed but appeared as if it was in queue to install on the app. I uninstalled the game and attempted to reinstall but it did not work. Now I am back to the prompt shown on [pic 1].

As a test I attempted to install a game that was on the game pass but was part of the EA pass and that was able to install with no issue. It seems to be an issue with any other game that I am having trouble with.

I also noticed that when uninstalling and reinstalling the Xbox app or repairing and restating it in windows settings on my first attempt to install a game I receive this prompt.

after selecting the drive within Profile> Settings > General like how its shown on [pic 2] the prompt returns to what is show on [pic 1]




I have looked for many possible fixes online but have had no luck. I have also spoken to xbox support but haven been able to find a solution. Does anyone have the same experience and know how to fix it? also sorry for the long post I searched around for a bit and didn't know where else to post this to ask for help.
