Unable to Install Games on Gamepass After Months of Trying

Hi there Grady welcome to the community forum! Christopher here, an Xbox fan just like you and has been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. I suggest you try these basic troubleshooting steps!

Open Settings, click Update and Security and then Windows Update;

Click Check for Updates;

Click the Download and Install Now option, if available;

Also, check the Microsoft Store for any updates on the Xbox apps and its services.

Then try this:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for gaming services app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

Then do the same for the Xbox app:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for Xbox app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

If it still doesn't work you're going to uninstall the games services using a powershell command, then you're going to open the gamepass app, it will ask you to download and install the game services again :

In the windows search bar type Powershell > Right click and select open as administrator > Type the command: "get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-Appxpackage –allusers" > Wait for the process to finish and then restart the PC, then open your Xbox gamepass app, it will ask you to install the gaming services again, install it and try again.

It’s final fantasy XIII-2 and direct x is installed. After game finished downloading i tried launching it and was told to install direct x which I did.

I did not buy it.

I have gamepass ultimate

I installed game via gamepass app on my laptop.

Not experiencing same issue with other games from source.

It did not happen after update but after I installed direct x.

Only thing I did try was close game down and started it again after 3 attempts i was able to play it for a hour. I closed game down for 20 mins but was unable to play it.

I was using my tv as a display screen via Bluetooth at the time but that had no effect I tried it while it was connected to my tv and when it was not connected but still got the error message.

You can share gamepass just like gold i would recommend to restart his console and after it boots up again you go to the xbox store and try to download a game that's on gamepass it would say you can install that game

The issue starts happening after I try installing a new game from GamePass.

I install games on a dedicated drive, different from the System C: drive. The issue started recently, on March 6th precisely.

I formatted my computer. It ran all good for 48 hours. Then I installed a GamePass game (Spelunky 2), and it started throwing BSOD after every user login.

I formatted a second time. It worked fine for a week, and again BSOD today March 14th after I tried installing a newly released GamePass game (Young Souls).

Ok when you said you own it like you bought ir oe just downloaded it from gamepass ultimate ?

If you downloaded it from gamepass you don't own it that is with any content from gamepass you only will have access while it is on gamepass

It.isn't like the games with gold program you only have it while you are subscribed and it is not removed from.thr gamepass library

You have to.buy it.before.or after it.leaves gamepass if you buy it after you don't get the 20% off discount with ultimate

You can try waiting for the next sale

The only way to own the game is to buy it before it leaves gamepass or after

If you bought it unless install it and reinstall from your ready to install library not.from the storefront as versions and dlc change all the time
