Unable to install games anymore (Error Code 0x80073d0d)

I've joined the xbox game pass ultimate and used the xbox app on pc to download some games and play. Everything was working perfectly, as I played Control, human fall flat and other games.

I have my main OS installed on C Drive (500gb SSD), where it also contains my steam app platform, epic games launcher, EA, xbox app etc..

I have a secondary SSD drive on my D Drive that is dedicated to only store all my games.
All my platforms including steam, EA and even Xbox app are pointed to D Drive to install games.

My D Drive is structured in a clean way that every platform has their own folder, and is easily distinguished which game is installed from which platform.

I realized Xbox was pointed to my D drive, but I don't remember exactly how its pointed to a specific folder (I learnt this the hard way that xbox app only chooses the Drive, and it create its own folders).

While installing Microsoft Flight Sim 2020, I was browsing my D Drive and realized I have so many folders I do not recognize, two of which are related to xbox app called "WpSystem" and "windowsapp" alongside some mod folders. Also MS flight sim was also creating its own "packages" folder. The whole Drive was becoming a mess.

long story short, thinking this is a D Drive and wanted to clean it and re-structure it again (my OCD kicked in), I deleted these folders, uninstalled xbox app to re-install again and give it its own folder structure.

But after trying to re-download "any" game, including MS flight sim 2020, I kept getting this error code "0x80073d0d). It never downloads.
I also tried my previous games such as human fall flat, same story.

This has happened right after deleting these folders. Is there a way to have xbox app re-create these folders by itself?

    ===========
    Extra info:
    - With "windowsapp" folder, it has a permission issue when I tried to delete it, as it has a user Owner called "TrustedInstaller" with full control over the folder under Properties --> Security. I had to forcefully change the user to my as admin to delete it.
    - "WpSystem" has the appdata packages folder inside it, with I think a long numeric numbered folder name (its own user?)

When trying to restore the folders, I cannot change the permission back to TrustedInstaller, as these became "legacies" after re-installing xbox app. Also I couldn't get it to work.

I am not sure if the folders are related to the problem or not. But it sure feels this way after deleting it.
Anyone faced a similar situation? Really could use some help here as I'm stuck out of playing any game pass PC games atm.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I also tried resetting xbox app, uninstall/reinstall and re-installed Gaming services.

My microsoft store app is working if that's any help.

    :)

Unable to install games anymore (Error Code 0x80073d0d) (SOLVED)

I understand, in this case, the program above will apply changes to the windows system as a whole, as the problem is not with your storage devices. Please try the procedure below.

Download the Create Windows 10 installation media application from the link below, at the end of the download run the application, and then follow the instructions given by the program at the end click on upgrade. Rest assured none of your files will be lost, this is a system restore that will try to fix this error.

Unable to install games anymore (Error Code 0x80073d0d) (SOLVED)

you can't restructure how microsoft windows store and xbox app install the games, the folders are encrypted, if you change this then the games become unplayable as its microsoft way of doing DRM.

you need to delete all the microsoft folders by taking ownership and changing to your user id so you can delete them, (i have done this many many times) then you can select the drive for storage again in windows and install gamepass games etc.

yes it messes with OCD but you can hide the folders so you don't see them except for the windows app folder.

    https://www.minitool.com/data-recovery/delete-access-windowsapps-folder.html

rinse and repeat steps in the link for each folder that you cannot delete.
I have already deleted them thinking i can re-structure the folders.

But now I need the xbox game pass app to re-create the folders that I deleted. They were on my drive D, so I never gave them a second thought and just rushed to delete them (thought it was safe to do so).

How did you re-create those folders on the alternative drive?

EDIT: I can already use my C Drive and can download the games easily. Only on D Drive i'm having trouble after deleting those folders.

Unable to install games anymore (Error Code 0x80073d0d) (SOLVED)

Hi, hasnt been that long so i thought about replying here:

    I've done your fix:

System - change where new content is saved. Set it to D: instead of C:

And immeadiately the game i was having trouble with started to download in the Xbox gamepass app. No restart required!

I had the same error message, sometimes i also get "no admin rights" (eeeh what?), but that has nothing to do with this ;)

You helped me alot! I was always installing via MS Store, which works and then starting the games there, which is i think is not how a 12€ a month subscription should work...

    So: Thanks!
