Unable to Install - Drive missing and cannot change

    Hi All,

I have run into an issue with Xbox on my PC. I cannot install new games as the Location is missing, and is not selectable in Settings.

The drive I have the games installed on is my primary with OS installed on it also. I have made no changes in the past 2 weeks to any applications other than updates. There are no options in "Change where this app installs games by default" despite having multiple hard drives in my computer.

I can run the existing installed games without any issues.

    I have re-installed Xbox.

I have also reset the data through Settings > Apps & features.

Run as an administrator isn't an option, and I am the sole account on the PC.

I haven't been able to find any other posts with this as an issue and am at a loss as how to proceed.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

    :)

I tried that and yet it didnt worked. By the way my problems its a little diferent. When I go to Picture profile>>settings>>general>>game installation options I can see both of my memory but when I try to install something it shows only the internal memory. Btw my xbox its in portuguese.

Recent edit: My HDD shows up only when I try to install "astronner" and "Goat simulator..."

Hello, how are you? My name is Mateus. I'm an Independent Advisor and I'll be glad to help you today.

First I'm sorry you're having this problem.

Please try to carry out the solution below.

    Solution 1:

Select the Start button and then go to Settings > Update and Security > Windows Update.

Check if there are any updates to be done on your computer.

    Solution 2:

Rest assured none of your files will be lost, this is a system restore that will try to fix this error.

MS Flight Simulator installation with error message

It selected to install it on drive D: or E: both add physical drives. The isntallation on C: happens by the installer without any option to change that. It's also only the first 2GB of the game, the rest of approx 150 GB still missing.

Unable to change installation drive in xbox app.

Hello, I tried what you said, but it is still not working. I even uninstalled xbox app and reinstalled it, nothing changed. I can select D drive for some games and not for others.

Unable to change installation drive in xbox app.

Ok. Since Xbox app allow some games to be installed on your D: drive but not others, I'd recommend you to try to reset both Microsoft store and Xbox app. Also try to reinstall the Gaming Services:

    - Go to start > Search for PowerShell > Right click > Run as administrator.

    - In Windows PowerShell, type the following commands and press Enter (one at a time):

    get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

    Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

    - In the same window, type the following command and press Enter:

    start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

    - Install the app on that page and select Yes when you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.

    - Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features > Microsoft Store > Advanced Options > Reset.

    - Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features > Xbox App > Advanced Options > Reset.

    - Restart your computer.

Make sure that both on the Windows settings and on the Xbox app the D: drive is selected as the default drive for games installation.
