Unable to Install Age of Empire IV on my D drive.

I am unable to install any game through the various Microsoft Apps available. Such as the Xbox app for PC and the Microsoft Store app. I have done everything I can think of. I have followed every supposed fix. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Also, this problem isn't exclusive to me none of my friends are able to download onto other hard drives.

I am attempting to download using the game pass.

Yes, my subscription is current and active.

Yes, I have changed where new content is saved.

Yes, Windows is fully updated and so is the store.

I have tried the following supposed solutions:

Step 1: Run the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter

Select the Start button, and then select Settings>Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters, and then from the list select Windows Store apps > Run the troubleshooter.

    Step 2: Running PowerShell Command

    1. Press the Windows + X key and select Windows PowerShell (Admin).
    2. Copy and paste this command, then press enter: Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
    3. Restart PC and check
    1. Make sure Windows has the latest update: Select check for updates now, and then select Check for updates. Or, select the Start button, then select Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates. If there is an available update, select Install now.
    2. Make sure that your app works with Windows 10. For more info, see Your app doesn't work with Windows 10.
    3. Update Microsoft Store: Select the Start button, and then from the apps list, select Microsoft Store. In Microsoft Store, select See more > Downloads and updates > Get updates. If an update for Microsoft Store is available, it will start installing automatically.
    4. Troubleshoot games: If you're having issues installing a game, see Troubleshoot game installations on Windows 10.
    5. Repair or reset your apps: See Repair or Remove programs in Windows 10.
    6. Reinstall your apps: In Microsoft Store, select See more > My Library. Select the app you want to reinstall, and then select Install.
    7. Run the troubleshooter: Select the Start button, and then select Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot, and then from the list select Windows Store apps > Run the troubleshooter.
Go to Settings -> System -> Storage -> Change where new content is saved (under 'More Storage Settings'). Change the setting "New Apps will install to:" to the drive you want to use.

First, reset the windows store settings.

In the windows search bar type cmd to open up a command prompt, right-click on it, and run as administrator.

Type wsreset and hit enter, it will reset the windows store settings.

When you're done you will have to delete all temporary files on your pc.

To do it type storage in the windows search bar then click on storage settings.

Now click on temporary files, select everything then click remove files.

Once you are done reboot your computer!

Now the final step which fixed the issue for me!

#1: type PowerShell in your windows search bar then right-click on it and select run as administrator.

#2: inside PowerShell input, the following command line and hit enter (you can copy-paste it if you want):

    get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-Appxpackage –allusers

#3: When the first process is done you have to enter another command, do the same as before, and press enter:

    start ms-windows-store://pdp/?prodcutid=9MWPM2CQNLHN.

After both PowerShell commands are complete restart the windows store and you should finally be able to install the game.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files. Followed the steps in this link https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...86cb-ca52-166a-92a3-966e85d4094e#bkmk_cbs_log

Have granted myself permission on the WindowsApps folder located in D drive as forums indicated that could be a possible solution.

Just to reiterate and perhaps vent about my frustration in regards to this matter it should not take anyone 6 or more hours to attempt to fix a product that has been bought especially for a billion-dollar company that has the knowledge and funding to make a decent product. The sheer ineptitude of Microsoft to make a product so faulty that endless posts and forums have been made for years detailing the problem only to have the same supposed solution stated each time like a broken record is astonishing, each time with no solution found. As another user so elegantly put it in one of the many forums I searched through "Generic useless answer.

I could give that reply to every problem posted, as could a pigeon."

    :)

Yes I could download it on my (c:) drive but there is not enough space on my computer (the (c:) drive) to download the game that is why I was trying to download it on a (d:) drive.

    Hey Jazz128,

I am sorry you are experiencing issues downloading the Age of Empires IV game on the Xbox app and Microsoft store. I understand this is quite frustrating and you have tried many options.

Have you tried downloading it locally (C:) to see if you have the same installation issues?

When did this start happening? Do you have another harddrive to see if it works?

I have installed games onto my C drive multiple times however, their size was only 20gb. With age of empires 4 I require more space which my C drive simply does not have as it is an SSD with only 200gb of space.

I do know that it can install games just not on my D drive for some reason.

Note that some games like Forza Horizon 5, Age of Empires IV, and Back 4 Blood require NTFS-formatted storage drives to successfully complete the installation. If you’re installing a game on a secondary drive or external storage device, make sure the drive’s file system is NTFS. For more info, see:
