  1. Unable to hard-reset from power button

    Hi,

I've owned the X-One for over a year now.

Tried to hard-reset the console from the power button to keep things fresh - it keeps beeping as long as I hold down the power button and shuts off normally instead of shutting off with a click after a few seconds.

Has the power button malfunctioned preventing me from doing a hard-reset? Or is the console trying to tell me something is wrong?

    :)

Controller won't connect to One S

Try doing a hard reset of the console (hold power button for 10s?), then trying to pair again.

Seems the only solution at the moment is to do a hard reset, ie press the power button on console until it powers off. Hopefully they will sort out the mic monitoring issue in a future update as well.

Unable to hard-reset from power button

What I would try if it were mine would be while the console is in standby unplug the power from the back for 5 minutes. Then plug it back up and restart. Once it is up and operational then try the hard reset again. Just an idea. Let us know how it goes.
    Good Luck!

  5. Well, I tried that already sort of. I let it shut down normally. Cut the power to the brick so that it goes completely off.

Powered up the console, waited for the brick to go from white to amber, and fired it up. Again same issue - tried to hard reset but it shuts down normally while making beeping sounds repeatedly as long as I hold down the power button.

Is the power button faulty? Why do you think it won't let me hard-reset through the power button?

I am really not sure what would be causing that. Maybe someone else in the forums will have some insight or you could contact support.

  7. I talked to an Xbox Support rep - they tried the same on their consoles.

Guess what? Since the update, the console will no longer register the power button hold, when you want to do a hard-reset.

Try the same on your console, it will behave similarly - power light starts blinking when you hold it down and you'll hear multiple beeping sounds.

It just does not register the "standard hardware reset method" of holding down the power button.

So the rep said, unplug your cables and reconnect when you want to clear the cache. Well, I;m not going to do that, it's too time-consuming.

Any other way to clear the cache?

Unable to hard-reset from power button

I just did a hard reset on my console late yesterday afternoon and it worked perfectly. If it is a software issue it apparently is not impacting all consoles.

When was the update that caused the issue released?

  9. Well, here's the thing:

Apparently, the Support rep's feedback was not accurate as I tried the power button hard-reset again and it worked!

This time however, I applied extra pressure to hold the button down.

So one, I'm disappointed that I was somewhat lied to, and two, I now have to apply extra pressure to do a hard-reset. It used to work fine with a gentle hold. I still have to hardly tap it to power on and off normally.

Don't understand why the touch-sensitive button registers a hard-reset only when you apply more pressure. Are these things really fragile?

The power button is very sensitive in fact a simple brush of that button will affect the state of the system and initiate a power down.

How often do you dust down/clean the face of your system? Take a microfibre cloth and wipe the face (ensure the console is disconnected form the power supply). There might be layers of dust and grease on it.

  11. Hi Deus,

It is very sensitive yes - in fact, sometimes if you just hover your fingertip over it, it registers the shutdown/power up command.

However, my issue was with hard-resetting it, not the normal on/off process. It still registers the tap even if I just 'feather' it ever so gently. But when it comes to the hard-reset, I have to apply a little extra pressure while holding my thumb.

I clean it every 2 days with a slightly damp micro-fiber cloth, followed by a dry rub again, with a micro-fiber one. I also clean the vents with the same piece of cloth, including the disc-tray bay/door.

I am very conscious of these things and cover it up properly whenever not in use. So I don't think its caked with layers of dust or grease! Unable to hard-reset from power button ;)

    Hi Speed Demon

I'm sorry to say but your console may need repairs if this beeping consist's it'll become a bigger issue i'd recommend taking it to a local retailer and see if they can give you a description on it. if not you'll need to register your console for repairs
Here. I wish you the best of luck!

  13. Unable to hard-reset from power button

    Hey, thanks for the feedback.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it... I only hear the multiple beeps if I try to do a hard-reset while gently resting my finger over the power button. A light tap always registers when I want to turn it on/off normally.

However, for the hard-reset I have to apply maybe 30-40% extra pressure I'd say, which is fine. I appreciate the response, but I believe my console's fine. If it were a power button issue, I would have to apply a lot of pressure just to turn it on/off, which
    isn't the case.

Anyway, thank you. Unable to hard-reset from power button :)

It react fine currently, but later in the future this could cause the console to break down on it's self i recommend you get a diagnostic check on it and see if it's a internal problem. I understand it sounds like a lot of work but it's better then having
it break on you in the future.
