    Unable to get new Minecraft Better Together Update after purchasing DLC and playing at least 5 ...


    I have purchased the Star Wars Classic Skins for my account and have played over 6 hours on the disc version. The update is not showing up in the store except as a 'Buy' option. How can I enable the free update? I have posted a screenshot of the purchase
    below.

    After playing Minecraft for 5 hours, I still don't see any Minecraft better together update under "My games & apps"?

    Any help?

    I used minecraft xbox one edition for 5 hours but when i am trying to get the new minecraft better together update it wants me to pay 19.99€ for it. Help me please!

    This is from the FAQ on the
    Minecraft site.

    Q: I own Minecraft: Xbox One Edition on disc. Will I be able to get the Better Together Update for free?

    A: If you own Minecraft: Xbox One Edition on disc and have played for at least 5 hours in the past 12 months or bought DLC, you’ll be able to upgrade to Minecraft for free, until January 30th 2018. If you haven’t played in the past 12 months, you can play
    five hours or purchase DLC before January 30th 2018 to unlock your upgrade.

    If you own the digital downloaded version of the game, then you should still be able to get the updated version for free.

    Thank you for coming to the Xbox forums. Unfortunately the free Better Together upgrade for owners of Minecraft Xbox One edition has passed. The deadline was January 30th, 2018. Here is a quote from

    Mojang's Better Together Update FAQ     for Xbox console users:

    "Q: I own Minecraft: Xbox One Edition on disc. Will I be able to get the Better Together Update for free?

    A: If you own Minecraft: Xbox One Edition on disc and have played for at least 5 hours in the past 12 months or bought DLC, you’ll be able to upgrade to Minecraft for free, until January 30th 2018. If you haven’t played in the past 12 months, you can play
    five hours or purchase DLC before January 30th 2018 to unlock your upgrade."

    Apologies but any updates your son's friends received were probably just a general update for the game and they already had the free upgrade or they had purchased the upgrade.

    Minecraft is currently only available as a digital download. If you bought the disc version, and you met certain requirements:

    If you own Minecraft: Xbox One Edition on disc and have played for at least 5 hours in the past 12 months or bought DLC, you’ll be able to upgrade to Minecraft for free, until January 30th 2018. If you haven’t played in the past 12 months, you can
    play five hours or purchase DLC before January 30th 2018 to unlock your upgrade.

    In other words, since that time has already elapsed, in order to get the new updated version of the game, you would have to purchase Minecraft from the Xbox Store.
