Unable to find microphone - mic striked through

Hi everyone,

I've noticed this to be quite a widespread issue. I am not able to chat but I can hear others through the tv. The mic is striked-through and I have no idea what to do next.

This is what I have tried so far (with no luck);

- Hard reset on Xbox / Powercycle

- Linking new controller (associate controller to account)

- Updating firmware on controller

- Using new Microsoft headphones / using old ones (tested on other devices to confirm they work fine)

- Clear NAT cache

- updated all privacy settings to allow all communication

- Checked all mute systems were off

- Trawled through numerous help videos on Youtube

I called the Microsoft Helpdesk twice and after 23 min on the first call - they hung up, the second call lasting a shorter 11 min before hanging up on me.

I really don't know what else to try apart from selling it and getting a Playstation.

Any help at this point will be greatly appreciated.

Open the Accessories app, in the control settings make sure the microphone is enabled.

Yes, the various headsets/earphones I am trying come with the 3 'rings'.

What concerns me most is that about 2 months ago everything was working fine. I don't know what I (or my Son) did to stop this from working - but since then the mic has been on mute (striked through on the screen).

I could invest in a Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter, but to be honest I don't know if this will work. I'll see if I can find a second hand one perhaps.

Could the fact we've had to use the Kinect for a while be causing this? Could the Kinect be affecting the settings? That's now the only thing I can think of.

Try Setting up a headset adapter which bypasses the
3.5mm socket which may have gone faulty. Also you may need to Update your controller firmware.
A new update was released recently.

hi, you said you tried with a new controller that is associated to an account.

can you try with a controller that isn't associated to an account?

I've seen that "fix" this for somebody else.
