    Unable to erase hard drive, options?


    My xbox 360 is broken and it won't start up/switch on. I'm going to sell it for parts so I'm not looking for troubleshooting options.

    My issue is that I found a site, JJ Games, that will buy everything I have apart from the broken xbox itself. For all the other accessories and games I have the quote totals $89 plus a pre paid shipping label. This is a really good deal I want to accept,
    but since my xbox won't turn on I can't erase my hard drive and the hard drive is the main item that brings the quote to $89.

    There's nothing bad on the hard drive, just my profiles and the profiles of my family members. We really don't want anyone who buy the hard drive to play on them, but as far as I can tell all they can do(without our passwords) is access achievements and
    play in our names(which I don't really want)?

    1. What else can they do with our profiles?

    2. Would Gamestop erase the hard drive on one of their consoles in the back if I agreed to paying a fee? (I don't know anybody with an xbox 360)

    3. Is everything safe if I close our xbox live accounts online? I want to close the accounts anyway since I won't be playing xbox anymore.

    There is no such thing as a Hard Drive eraser app. I'm not sure who recommended it to you but you were misinformed.

    If you would like to erase the hard drive of your console then please head over to Settings>System>Storage and reformat the drive.

    do this

    go to storage

    once the menu opened you see hard drive and cloud save

    select hard drive (then press Y button) erase the cache and you might can play the game

    (offline that is) but you can play

    The 360 profile protection will make it so if anyone does try to sign into your account, it will require it to be downloaded which requires the sign in info. So your profiles and anything else will still be on the console, but they shouldn't be able to access
    any of the profiles (as long as you did the profile protection for all of them).

    I'm not sure if Gamestop provides any sort of services to wipe a hard drive, but you may want to call them and ask.

    Serious External Hard Drive Issues for Xbox One
